  1. Many of us have been enjoying them for years!
  2. The House finale. . . sort of disappointing. Mad Men is continuing to be very interesting this season. Looks like the themes for the finale are set up nicely. Almost finished with Season 1 of Suits, one more episode to go.
  3. Well the Pynchon was interesting. A bit cornier than I'd like. Moved on to re-reading A. A. Fair's "Top of the Heap." I really like the B.Cool and Lamb series.
  4. Actually John mentioned the King Kent series above. I agree with you both. Great music, well mastered and presented.
  5. Really? I thought it was okay but. . . . Too bad the season is over. I've been enjoying the show this year.
  6. Yes, The Killing is in fact getting better episode by episode.
  7. Some of the performances are. Mostly it's a slightly different thing in the jamming, and some are not really jam oriented. I'm happy to have both sets. Need to respin both sets soon.
  8. It was the best of the three musical performances. Was an okay episode.
  9. Started watching the USA Network show "Suits." Enjoying it. . .and it has Gina Torres in it. What a lovely lady.
  10. I thought he did okay, nothing special. And Sudeikis and Sandberg are also leaving. . . why weren't they "honored?"
  11. Have a great day Chuck, and many happy returns!
  12. Really liked "Rubicon," I've been waiting for it to come out on DVD in the US bus so far no go.

    IKE QUEBEC

Or that studio session of Horace Silver's. Though I'm not sure there IS a Blue Note reissue program at the moment, as long as Michael Cuscuna is involved in the program we are not likely to see these rejected sessions. He has striven all these years to uphold and honor the decisions made by Alfred Lion, and I don't see him reversing this position. . . . . It's an admirable position to hold.
  14. Not DVD, but a Blu-ray bargain: the four Alien films, region free Blu-ray, about 20 bucks delivered. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B006MGB31Q/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
  15. Thanks for the heads up. Ed Motta!
  16. Ah, apologies for one of my ever recurring mistakes.
  17. A friend has that set, and it's a beauty. About nine more L&H discs than I need.
  18. Many happy happy returns!
  19. Only it wasn't started by you. . . .
  20. I don't really have a strong opinion on the label itself, even after all these years. Periodic purchases of albums based on the artists have led me to periodic purchases. That is, I rarely feel compelled to buy them, partly the sound and partly the material, and I don't know much of that to lay at the feet of the producer. I think if I were to buy releases of artists I am not that familiar with on the label, it might lead to a lot of purchases. Probably why I don't do so. . . I'm collecting far too much as it is.
  21. The two Hodes you are missing are my favorites! A great series. I love the first fifteen years of Blue Note and wish that it were more talked about and appreciated, but I'm happy just to listen. I think I'm missing: TOCJ-660006 Melancholy Boogie Woogie and Piano Classics / Various Artists TOCJ-660010 Profoundly Blue / Memorable Sessions With Edmond Hall TOCJ-660011 High Society / Jamming In Jazz with Blue Note
  22. Yes, I have very much enjoyed a few rock and soul box sets too. . . I was thinking jazz though. Anyway, Concord might fool us yet, but no one's holding their breath.
  23. Me too. Fresh Sound should have paired this with Hot Line. The other material on this new cd has been on cd.
