  1. Jim, I'd also recommend amazon.fr . . . if you have an amazon account, it's a piece of cake to order. The cost is very reasonable even with shipping. Doesn't take that long to receive as well.
  2. August 15, 1965 was the Shea Stadium event. That's where the show is now.
  3. As I was watching I thought to myself, "The Steve Hoffman forumites are going to love the mention of the Beatles!"
  4. Dream on! I think there are still some that will choose to use distortion as a color and texture. I know I would. (And above, just to correct something you mentioned, I was not talking about JUST guitar.) I like me some distortion as a musical choice. I'd be very unhappy if it were eliminated altogether by some sort of music-dictatator decree!
  5. Well yeah, me too in a sense, but if they were released in a chronological series I know I could fill in some gaps in my collection. . . and that might be good.
  6. Ha! How I wish someone would collect the complete private recordings!
  7. Don has every right to be worried, and it will be interesting to see if they allow his desertion and fraud to be revealed. I doubt it. Poor Joan!
  8. I met Burroughs at the University of Chicago in '75 (I think it was '75). He and Ginsburg were visiting and reading from their work (or singing in Ginsburg's case). Afterwards at a "sherry hour" at our dorm tower students were able to talk with them. Few did, so I screwed up my courage and asked some questions. Burroughs was pretty quiet. Eerie guy.
  9. Clearing out the DVR today. Hawaii Five O. . . not going to be following that one closely, pretty lame and empty. The Defenders, had it's moments, pretty trite. The Event. . . has potential, will probably follow it for a while. Getting ready for Rubicon and Mad Men.
  10. The Duke Pearson. Wonderful stuff, so glad Mosaic put this out.
  11. They're ALL great, imo.
  12. They often are called "star" screws as well. My Harley is full of them, I bought a set of folding wrenches of different sizes. They're actually quite a nice system for fitment.
  13. Yes, Shawn and I watched most of the first DVD last night. EXCELLENT! Sound, picture, performance all first rate.
  14. I admire a lot of Frank's work, but. . ..
  15. It's not Arthur.
  16. That is pretty much how it is throughout the (remade) movie. The director DID decide not to film some scenes, and much of Lou Ford's interna "dialog" is not "narrated" either, which adds surprise to some scenes. . . in the book Ford talks to himself about "the sickness" returning, etc. and that gives a bit of warning and explanation for the violence that so abruptly erupts in the film. There was a time in the 'eighties when reading Orwell seemed to be eerie. . . it's as if I could easily bond and share his viewpoint and ideas. Only two other authors have ever really reached me in the same way: Dick and Miller.
  17. Okay. I like women. Watched Fringe last night. Was a pretty good season premiere.
  18. I'm 99 percent certain the same show is on Wolfgang's. And there's audio AND video on blogs. But some of us want to collect physical product, the more official the better. Aside from the Tanglewood the box has no audio or video not included on the Legacy set, some alternate and single pieces not in the box and of course the video. There's also printed material in this edition not available in the others.
  19. Have a great day and many many happy returns!
  20. Me too. . . . Too bad. Poor Zoe!! She's my favorite cast member. Gina Torres is so beautiful and sexy.
  21. I don't know any more about it than you do. . . . I would hope so, I would hope that many of the concerts see official light of day, but I have heard nothing to indicate that, and I don't have an "in" of any kind to any part of the music industry, let alone Columbia/Sony.
  22. That Tanglewood concert BURNS. Sounds pretty good too. Jarrett really made a contribution to the music in this band. I think if Jarrett had continued on with "electric" keyboards some great music might have been made.
  23. Me too. And "Serenity." Fringe Season 2 is excellent. Can't wait for the new episode tonight. As for "Undercovers," I think that the first episode suffered from building the situation which is a decidedly unlikely and hard to swallow situation. I think once they get beyond that phase, it might be a fun show. I DO like Alias, and this is an offshoot of that, maybe a bit watered down, remains to be seen if they'll introduce a long continuity storyline which would save it for me if it's an interesting one.
  24. The Bill Dixon set is now shipping.
  25. Many many happy returns!
