  1. Many many more happy happy ones!
  2. The manufacturing process seems to have real promise of creating very accurate and optimal lenses. http://www.ecpmag.com/1webmagazine/2008/10oct/content/through_the_lens/understanding-digital-lenses.asp If you trust your doctor's judgment and he uses a lab which he is confident makes superior lenses, then I'd consider them. (If your budget does not allow, I wouldn't worry that you're missing TOO much, but who knows).
  3. By the time we get to the fourth page of this thread we'll probably have listed his entire catalog, someone recommending each of them as "something you should listen to." And really. . .a case could be made for each! What an artist. I've found lately I really like the work he did in his final three or four years. I really like "Time Lines" and love his work with Greg Osby on "The Invisible Hand."
  4. But I have to agree, the sideways flashes were weak last night, as weak as the whole Kate-Claire taxi episode for me. Hopefully next week the tone and feel will change and get us on track for what I predict will be quite an "action movie" series of episodes.
  5. No, I think the ending will be more cohesive than that. . . just a feeling I have. We'll see!
  6. I have 4 other Robinson dates . . . like the Savoy best.
  7. Was a good episode. Only five more to go. . .
  8. I can't decide if it's "Blues for Louise" or "Jitterbug Waltz" from Zoot Sims' "Warm Tenor" on Pablo. One of my favorite Zoots!
  9. Re-watching last week's Damages, getting ready for tonight.
  10. I actually really like the Pablos, and they're far from expensive these days! I have a number of the Chronogical Classics which are all uniformly GREAT.
  11. I did a search and didn't see a "corner" or a "circle" for Big Joe. So. . . here's an attempt; this can go away if anyone can find another earlier one! Picked up two Pablos I realized that I had never had, Joe Turner's "Patcah! Patcha! All Night Long!" and "Flip! Flop! & Fly!" Neither of these would be releases I'd recommend to someone discovering Joe, but they're both great performances, the first featuring Jimmy Witherspoon and the other with the Count Basie Orchestra. Joe Turner was a well of history and futures and fun, fun, fun. I'm a fan.
  12. If you really could use a new version of Soul Station, get the XRCD, sounds marvelous.
  13. I don't get the complaints about the sounds he makes but oh well. I'll pick this up.
  14. How about the band from this century "Pelican."
  15. :tup :tup
  16. If it's the one that i think that it is, I haven't noticed that on Blu-Ray and I've tried not to buy dvds. I'm not really a "travel video" guy per se so I miss a lot. I've heard that there's a fantastic BBC Blu-Ray Ganges that I must see, so I will probably buy that. Mainly flora and fauna apparently. . . I went for Story of India first because of the architecture, cities, people and historical overview.
  17. East Coastin' Ah Um Plays Piano
  18. Actually BBC, Michael Woods
  19. No shit. Crabby as Clem Chauncy.
  20. Many more happy happy ones!
  21. My favorite PBS show of the last few years is on Blu-Ray: The Story of India. Highly recommended, travel and history, and beautiful photography. Truly fascinating.
  22. Great music. I have most of it, but I'll be getting it. Thanks!
  23. I read a lot of her stuff then. Good stuff.
