  1. You're in for a treat! I saw Bobby with Sonny this May. He was wonderful, his sound and his ideas and his swing.
  2. No kidding. Naked Lizzy Caplan helped me get to the end.
  3. I've been watching Mad Men Season 2 on Blu-Ray. A very well done show, this season as good as the first. I still don't really care about any of the characters. . . they're all kindof slimy.
  4. It's an interesting album. It's an interesting colleciton of tracks perhaps more accurately. I have learned to like it more as the years go by. But after buying the set of Montreux concerts, I listen to that for my last phase of Miles, almost exclusively. Live this stuff holds my attention a way that it doesn't in the studio.
  5. I like this album. More than I ever liked the Hersch. De gustibus, etc.
  6. There are two ways that sets time out, the lease period runs out, or they sell the allotted number of copies. I suspect the former is the case with the Parlan. They may have an agreement with the owner of the material (who in this case own half the business I believe, EMI) that if there are manufactured copies of a set after the lease times out they can sell those. That would perfectly fit this situation. All three of the recent "finds" are EMI properties.
  7. Worth mentioning is that these threads have sparked discussion trangential to the celebrity himself.
  8. This week it's "Stardust," which is okay with me.
  9. Thanks Hank. . . . Updated.
  10. Updated with three titles.
  11. The Young reissues have already appeared here in the US, a few weeks ago. I dont' know if they're related in anyway to his Archive box set(s) release. . . Young's quirky attitude to the catalog is the factor, most likely. I'd love to see Joni Mitchell reissues, especially Hissing of Summer Lawns and Hejira.
  12. Don't worry Bichos, it's not ending, it's finally starting! Many many happy returns!
  13. Many many happy happy returns!
  14. Mine is still in the mail. I think more people would be into it if they didn't already have quite a bit of the material. Right now I'm grooving to the Canadian Universal Oscar Peterson set.
  15. That Capitol set. . . I blew my entire IRS refund on it one year (don't get big refunds!) and I'm so glad I did. Great collection of music, really nice booklet (love the silver stripe!)
  16. Yeah. Just wouldn't have made millions and millions.
  17. My second order, much smaller, ordered on the 9th, shipped yesterday.
  18. Many more happy ones!
  19. Many happy happy returns!
  20. Yeah Animation and the Belden Bitches Brew recreation, etc. Definitely good stuff.
  21. I really wanted to like it. Never really have.
  22. Also. . .I don't expect it to follow conventions of jazz, rock, funk, world, etc. It seems its own thing, a sort of fever dream chronicling of 'what it is'. . . .
  23. At the time they lost me after Lizard and Islands. In the nearer past I've heard quite a bit of the material that followed. . . but still really don't dig it. Ah well. The first four, great stuff. What's with the surround stuff---do people really listen to music in surround? I've avoided surround sound all my life. . . I don't even really like it for movies.
  24. Yeah, I saw one episode about three weeks ago when Nadine was in the hospital, and watched the first episode today. You sort of have to like Timothy Hutton, but I do. And it's "Mission Impossible," which is okay. I never really liked MI, but I've liked other shwos that borrowed from it like "Alias." "Leverage" may prove to be pretty cool. My uncle is going to be one of the villains on the upcoming August 19 episode. I'll have to find a way to see that.
