  1. The Yusef Lateef 1957 four cd set from Fresh Sound, disc 2

    Wild Bill Davison

Love that burry sound! And man what a player!
  4. I think I feel it's more improved than Cliff does. . . . It may not be worth rebuying solely for the improved sound, but there is an improvement.
  5. What, you mean there's life without whining?
  6. Well, I now have an ES series Sony Blu-Ray player, so come on Neil, won't upset me if you release this set early!
  7. I suppose I should say "grabbed" AFTER I get them in my hands. Hopefully our orders will come through since these two were just listed... I have since received both the Redman and the Maupin from yourmusic.
  8. Yes except he hasn't figured out that not all Selects have made it to retail outlets yet. . .
  9. I've never been really excited by the Dizzy set. The Chu set is very good, I wouldn't fret about the mastering, Ted Kendall did quite a nice job. The Basie set is excellent.
  10. Oh, I kind of like them, you don't stay seated too long, keeps you going rather than chilling! And, conversely, I actually believe the petite Ms. Adu would be quite comfortable in those.
  11. Someone actually pays attention to those magazines?
  12. It was about music. . . if I'm going to be on a desert island I'd want all my instruments (I have two basses, a bass violin, an electronic keyboard, three guitars, a drumset and some precussion pieces) to back up Helen Folasade Adu's lovely singing! So there! I hate sports so I've never heard that podcast you're talking about. I HAVE heard both men and women talk about celebrities in that way. . . .Somehow I don't think New Yorkers are "above all that" superior.
  13. Scarlett would to be SO jealous!
  14. If I have to be stranded on a desert island. . . . Can it include a nice little studio room like this with this occupant? Your turn!
  15. Right now: Paradiso sparkling mineral water from Italy
  16. After years of dissatisfaction with the results, I finally ditched the drip coffeemaker method and am now using one of these: Some people also use the Chemex version of this which is also excellent. With a good adjustable burr grinder and some good quality coffee (I order it from a place in Georgia called St. Ives Roasters) the result is that I can FINALLY make a good cup of coffee at home. I guess for about twenty-five years I have been doing something quite similar, using a #2 Melita cone, which I let drip into a 16 ounce mug. All the coffee I need for the usual day. http://www.rutamaya.net/store/ I've been lucky for ten years to live near a great supermarket with a huge bulk section with great coffees, though the last four years or so I've been mainly using this Ruta Maya organic coffee, grown in Mexico, but roasted right here in Austin. Wonderful stuff!
  17. Many more happy happy ones!
  18. A mug of Ruta Maya organic Mexican medium roast with cream.
  19. Nah, it's either Bitches Brew or Sunshine of Your Love.
  20. To each their own. This show has become LESS interesting to me over time, but I'm glad it seems improving to others.
