  1. Too much, $8.20, but I just look at it as if I'm buying the bonus disc I won't get elsewhere.
  2. Moi aussi. That and Nick and the Glimmung are the only two published works I don't have.

  4. I've heard it may be reissued soon. Also that there will be a publication of the UBIK Screenplay. Here's hoping.
  5. Niko, it's a nasty disease. Helen was lucky in that a lot of people tested to see if they were better donors, but in all the databases and from all the testing there was only one "9 out of 10" donor. . . and that donor ultimately didn't help. It saved her a period of suffering and fading away I guess, there really was no cure except a successful transplant. Brad, thanks. I don't mean to hijack this thread. . . .
  6. I'll just echo two recommendations here of my favorite bluesmen. Try out some T-Bone Walker. There is an excellent two cd set on Capitol of his Imperial recordings which I see all over the place for about ten to twelve dollars. Just amazing stuff! Even more favored by me are his Black and White sides, which were put out in a Capitol 3 cd set which I have NOT seen anywhere in a long time, more's the pity. Both these sets (and a half dozen other alternates and Freddie Slack Orchestra sides) were on the Mosaic set. Get some John Lee Hooker! He and T-Bone were both originals that need to be heard. Any of his Modern or his VeeJay or his "Savoy label" sides are well worth having!
  7. Bub I'm heartened by the cover actually, it falls in line with the covers for the Monk/Coltrane and especially the Mingus, and this makes me hope that there are more in this "series" to come in the future from Blue Note.
  8. Pretty sure it's this one, "Shoutin' Blues"
  9. Many many more happy ones!

  11. They record very well! Haven't heard them live. I tried a few out in a drum shop and they were so different from the heavy Zildjans I've always used I didn't feel I had to have some. . . .
  12. Wow James, you're really discovering some great music lately, must be the new rig! So much to discover, and as with Ellington, so many ways to go. I just finished listening to a recently reissued one that is well worth getting, the fantastic New Testament band "Live at Birdland" (Roulette).
  13. Welcome bvy, I enjoy your posting from "over there" and invite you to stick around here!
  14. You're right, I'm not myself early in the morning lately, thanks for the correction!
  15. Good one!
  16. I'm working on a sale with John.
  17. Oh I feel you would dig it deeply!
  18. Yes, I think about 1972 or 1973. . . . I bought a Sonor kit in part because Jack used one (I didn't buy one til 1987). Jack has (had?) a signature line of Paiste cymbals that had that dark and dry sound.
  19. I've had my copy of Vol. 4 for a spell, got it from Worlds Records. If you like the other three, it's a no brainer.
  20. "Dizzy"? Maybe the Randy Weston?
  21. Those Wax and Continental Label cds are very good. I paid a lot more for mine years ago! Friday night I put in an order that included the Hackett Dr. Jazz, the two Condon Dr. Jazz, the Benny Goodman Swing Sessions and the Mildred Bailey on Nostalgia Arts.

  23. Okay, if you consider it an action movie, then Blade Runner has to be in the listing, agreed!
