  1. Like this one! Like the second disc a bit better than the first. And no, not a promo. I disagree with Brian about KJ, but that's nothing new.
  2. How could I not open a thread started by one of my favorite celebrities?
  3. Glad you're there at last Mark! Things will get better day by day.
  4. Great, another Gaillard!
  5. And which is better looking than which!
  6. I have cdrs much older than five years old with no sign of any deterioration at all.
  7. Silly Erik! The show is about getting big advertizing dollars and making money for the record company any way possible!
  8. They're already lifting a glass your way! Many more!

I wish that his solo lp had come out in the Savoy/Denon series.
  13. The opposite is true for me! (Well, I'm influenced by my wife who always hated the first part of the competition, embarassing lousy singers seemed cruel to her).
  14. Well, for personal reasons I tried not to start this season. . . . But I did. That girl was cute, but not the finest looking contestant of all in my estimation. (Hey, I'm crazy about brunettes!)
  15. Thanks. I bet that was a great show.
  16. Hi HBJ, Was it the trio?
  17. I think she played in Grandson Ellington's outfit.
  18. Basie at Birdland is added. . . probably won't last!
  19. so what are the reservations about this set? JB sorry, I hadn't read the rest of the threat. but how is this really the best sound quality till now? JB John, everyone has a different idea of what "the best sound quality" is. I will say that these sound very very good. I put them up there with the K2 Digital Impulse cds from Japan as my favorite sounding versions. There are many reasons why these may sound so good. Better source tapes. . . more careful engineering of the remastering process. . . improved mastering equipment. . . .Whatever the reasons, it seems to me that great care was taken to get a great sounding result and it has paid off. thanks jazzbo! what about comparing the sound quality to the expanded versions of "Ballads" and "AFRICA/BRASS" ?? JB John, I prefer the sound of the new single disc version of Africa Brass to the Impulse two cd set, but of course there is far less material. As for the "Ballads" Deluxe version. .. . People who don't like RVG remastering will prefer the new one. I like them both (and of course the two cd set has more material).
  20. Maybe they think that several who may have one of the TOCJ volumes but not the other may be better served by two separate releases?
  21. Marla, thanks for letting us know of this forthcoming dvd!
