  1. I respect it, I like it, I like the Faulkner, and Henry Miller and Phillip K. Dick were responsible for parts of my current mind. Miller rules.
  2. Thanks R. I didn't quite know how to express that and you did.
  3. I saw that. Different street date. Different price. Different CD? I don't know. If it's different, it's a great price for a Japanese lp sleeve facimile!
  4. Hmmm.. . .I really like the sound on the Mosaic of this lp session, very dynamic.
  5. Yes, Face to Face has been out before.
  6. That was my first one that I owned as well (read a library copy some years before buying the paperback).
  7. It's sacriledge Brad! I can understand you're feeling that way. . . I love them both but Ellington has the leading edge with me.
  8. MBL: I don't have any specific insider knowledge but my guess is that these are not the earlier remasterings, but new ones. . . . Whenever I've compared recent RVGs to former JRVGs the remastering IS different (better too).
  9. I'm glad that you've gotten such great responses. . . I'm such a fan of Pee Wee (though I love his pre fifties work best I think) that I was paralyzed to really give a recommendation. . . I enjoy them all so much.
  10. Great news Chuck! I'll be eager to get a copy of that Uptown!
  11. It DOES apply online, event to preorders of the new batch.
  12. I don't listen to too many commentary tracks. . . but I do like those on the Cat Ballou dvd.
  13. I've gotten deep into her music. . .Especially the work of the last four years or so. Happy Birthday MM! (I sent her a happy birthday email).
  14. You are confusing Kerouac with Kesey. Different writers in many ways. I'm kindof excited about this new version of On the Road. It was a groundbreaking book!
  15. I'll toss a bargain out there. . . www.eMusic.com
  16. Oh how I wish I could use that! I so miss my biking days. . . . Ah Beemers. . . ~!
  17. I've got so many OJC cds I probably don't need any more. . . . But I did spend some dollars this week getting the Bob Scobey and Clancy Hayes Good Time Jazz cds that I didn't have. . . some at bargain prices, some not. And I ordered two OJC cds that include Johnny LaPorta lps. . . .I have one at home in Austin, but I was in the mood and ordering the other so I will soon have a copy here in Houston. Also ordered the Gus Mancuso twofer.
  18. I don't know--I bought a used copy of Sirius recently, I doubt that I will ever listen to it again. What can I say, it holds up to repeated listening for me, I like it.
  19. Thanks for posting this!
  20. Many more happy ones Mike!
  21. I think it's quite easy for me to come to the conclusion that Monk had some mental health issues. I see evidence of it in what I've read and seen. . . maybe I have a predisposition to spot (or "imagine" if you disagree with me) signs of this due to experiences in the lives of several very close to me. But. . . I see the signs. . . I see what looks like heavy "self-dedication"/"self-medication" and I see how fortunate he was to have had Nellie.
  22. Well. . . it's not just "Limited Editions" which are out of print, but other regular items. . . . I guess it's a relative matter of concern depending on your tastes and how long you've been collecting. If your main interest is in the hardbop sessions and the big names. . . you're probably okay now and in the future; Concord will repackage this stuff if you don't have it now. If you're interested in traditional jazz and more obscure items and have been collecting some decade or two. . . you're probably okay and have gotten the bulk of what you would be interested in. If you have the same interest and are a new collector, you may be hard-pressed to find these titles in the future, they're hard to find now. . . . I'm sorry to see that situation, but can certainly understand why I'm seeing it.
