  1. Here's one: those middle-aged musicians playing "Viva Viagra" on the tv ad . . . http://www.adverblog.com/archives/003143.htm
  2. Thanks. I heard a copy at a friend's in Ohio years ago that was stereo. . . it might have been. . .fake?
  3. I'd like to read a 700 page book about so much more known than is now known of the building of the Sphinx and the society that created it.
  4. No explanation given. I have a copy of the lp . . . it also was mono.
  5. I have to list about as much as I can carry fast, because my "favorite" has shifted so much; these are ones that have brought me some deep and intense listening joy for long stretches of time: Charlie Parker Mingus Teagarden Roulette Classic Capitol Armstrong
  6. Great call! Great album! I've loved the French CBS version I had of this (as part of the 1947-1952 set which is so valuable!) and the US reissue just increases the majesty.
  7. I've got to get this! This is a really good one, a sleeper!
  8. I've heard about this disc before. It's really expensive on Amazon! Does anyone know if the music is available elsewhere? I'm particularly interested in the quintet sessions with Clark Terry and Bob Wilber. Thanks! You know what? I don't think this music IS available elsewhere at this time, which is a crying shame!
  9. I like it. Excellent sound. If you liked the material on the live session that is on studio here, and are someone who can have multiple versions of the same thing and not squeam, this is likely to please. It does duplicate some live tracks, but would it have been better for them to have left it a shorter cd? Well maybe, but . . . . Anyway, I would be hardpressed to agree with the liner notes that all the studio tracks are "better" than the live performance ones they replaced on the original lp; I really find this sort of thing falls more in the "different than" category than "better." I felt the same way about the live and studio versions of Newport '56. I'm glad to have both.
  10. Well, I've heard part of those on lps (Ozone maybe?) and they sounded bad. I don't know. . .maybe Rose and his pals had a bad recording spell there. Anyway, it would be great to have these in better sound; if the source material sounds that bad. . . we may only get it from Andorran firms.
  11. No kidding, especially if the sound were magically better!
  12. I was only able to catch about 30 minutes; it was a very entertaining 30 minutes.
  13. I decided to preorder the Chambers (hate the sound on the version I have) and the Jordan (love this session). . . they'll be the first of the batch I buy.
  14. I bought this set when it first came out. . .and sold it shortly thereafter. There was nothing I wanted to keep, sadly.
  15. Those look cool. Those ARE cool!
  16. I want a copy of Philip K. Dick's "UBIK Screenplay" that I can afford. I'd love a set of books collecting all the early histories and romances of Alexander (the Great).
  17. As one of my coworkers would say, "Oh sure, just find a stickier band-aid, that'll work!"
  18. Don't hesitate to do business with Chris! Got my Dark Magus today, really quick and packed to withstand the gorillas.
  19. In my opinion, don't buy the cd, it's no improvement.
  20. I guess I'll just have to settle with the fact that my birthday is the same as Satchmo's. . . . . I really like Three from the Vault.
  21. I like them both. . . possibly the US one a bit more. . .and mainly because i've worked in US offices!
  22. I'm going to email that bastard and tell him to cancel my account while he's at it. Fucking ridiculous! Ah Shawn it's not worth it. . . .He think it's justified. He thinks I've been insulting him. If I had known THAT I would probably quit explaining myself and not resonded to the goads from RonF and Jay. Obviously if he's that insecure then I was indeed asking for it and got it. It won't accomplish anything to cancel your account, so keep it. . . .
  23. Then you have Collectors Classics copies like I do, they had the white center card. They're not Connoisseurs. Pretty damned good session, nice to have as an upcoming RVG!
  24. The Hip-O Select two cd version of Marvin Gaye "In Our Lifetimes?"
