  1. Cat food. My seventeen year old tortoiseshell cat is picky and I indulge her with the best. Coffee. I'm addicted to an organic Mexican coffee roasted here in Austin, Ruta Maya. Stereo equipment. I've lived beyond my means in this department, but it has paid off handsomely.
  2. Sony/Columbia could have stopped this release if they noticed/cared. Cool. I was thinking along the line of Granz. . . .I shouldn't have said probably, I was actually thinking "possibly" but wrote probably. You'd think they WOULD HAVE stopped these, or gotten their cut. . . are they just so not paying attention? If anyone noticed (most folks with that info have been fired by the majors) they would have demanded rights, paid "venue rights" and issued it with some payment to the owner of the tapes. It's so hard to believe there's no one around who would know! WIERD. Sad.

  4. You guys quite talking about these sets. I'm continuing to pretend they don't exist. Right now, "The Holy Ghost," the Cellar Club stuff.
  5. Probably wouldn't find anything interesting to read on it. . . I often go to Texas state agency websites/homepages to look for information. Sometimes it's a needle in a haystack I'm after! You'd think they could be better organized.
  6. I leased his mind back to him.
  7. I'm a homeboy. I'm a homebody. . . . But. . . no homepage. I'd probably just get kicked off it. . . .
  8. Well it all depends on how much you listen to the earlier stuff. .. . I listen to this set more often than the Donaldson or Turrentine or Mitchell. . . but I'm weird.
  9. Oh it's early jazz, New Orleans style. . . I don't know how to explain it otherwise. Has lots of ARMSTRONG in it in the trumpeting and singing. I really like it. I'm a big fan of Wingy, and I like this early Prima much more than any later Prima; there are sides with Pee Wee Russell in the band that are very good. Sound is very good; maybe a tad bright, depends on your system.
  10. Tony Bennett Complete Improv Recordings.
  11. Just a little correction: Flight to Jordan was out twice (once as an early cd, one as a "Collectors Classic" reissue) in the US, but never as a Connoisseur. I have all this material. . . but I really like the RVG series, I think the sound, the covers and the layout are better than earlier issues, and I've bought every item in the series so far so I'll be getting these. I wait and get them as cheaply as possible for the most part.
  12. Thanks Chris! (Dark Magus).
  13. Excellent sound.
  14. Thanks James. It's no big loss, the ouster, and just proved to me how much Xricci's management style and presence slowly sucked my enthusiasm for that forum away.
  15. John, MBL: we've discussed this before: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...terey+Armstrong Probably the promotors, not the artists' record labels, own the rights to these, hence the appearance on this new label.
  16. I guess I'll get mine Monday. . . .
  17. No. I'll rephrase it: he made the cd sound fantastic. (My opinion).
  18. You're probably right about distinguishing the reissues by the new covers. I thought I was getting the new reissue by the cover on cduniverse, they fooled me! By the way, the back cover of the cd booklet IS the original cover, so all you have to do is flip the cover over and close it and you can have it as the front cover. I did get the new reissue (the correct one) from ESP-DISK themselves, and Brownie, YES, I'm really enjoying your photos (and your portion of the notes!) Thanks for setting me straight. News this week or so is that ESP-DISK is now distributing and selling the Revenant "Holy Ghost" box set!
  19. I bet that's a mistake! It's going to be a good one. Too bad they delayed this batch of these cds. . . .
  20. Open up one of the links. Click on the Preorder Now button. Shipping within the US will be 2.99 for the first disc, 1.00 additional for the next.
  21. I share your opinion.
  22. I believe this Cornell concert would be the first appearance on disc of So Long Eric. I believe Free For All is right, Praying for Eric is another title for Meditations (or Meditations on Integration, or Meditations on a Pair of Wire-Cutters) and I think on some boots of the Bremen show So Long Eric appears as Hope So Eric.
  23. Yes. . . but does Verve own those tapes any longer? Brownie, I think whatever is on that Newport release was also in the Complete Verve Holiday box (and on the appropriate Dinah Washington box.) Nice stuff, the Carmen is good too.

    Stuff Reissues

Well I can SENSE all the great music that must have been in those clubs from the recordings! Regret that I wasn't ever even near to being able to experience that stuff! (or. . .THAT Stuff).
