There is no further information on this recording, except that the original reel tape was labelled as "Spacemaster Concert". June Tyson recites "The Shadows Took Shape", a Sun Ra poem never heard or seen until now. The music ranges from symphonic jazz to full psychedelic freakout. Available via Ebay. Yes, there seems to always be some version (legit, nonlegit) of the ESP Aylers around. The www.espdisk.com material seems to be staying in print.

Hey, I understand completely. I'm doing this (replacing ESP products as they become availabele) but I don't know why beyond. . . wanting to get official product at last! And I am getting all the RVGs because. . .well. . . I have the whole US series (quite a few Japanese). . . inertia? Habit? Because I love the sound? Probably most because Ilove the sound.

HG, I've bought all the XYZs in the past, and then all the ESP-ISK official releases released so far, and compared them. The improvements aren't huge, but the ESP-DISKs sound better to me. More open sounding, and with a bit more detail. Only something for an Ayler nut who doesn't have original vinyl and never did to get really excited about I suppose. The Slug's material is possibly the most pronouncedly improved to my ears on my system. If starting out from scratch, I advise anyone to order the ESP-DISK cds from http://www.espdisk.com/

I've gotten both those from yourmusic, and for what it's worth, I think African Tarantella is a better cd. . . . I think you'll like it. I'm a sucker for Duke well thought out and executed.

It's possible the source is pre-dime-download. . . . And not everyone has the downloads. . . . Still like to see this on a release that gave the creator(s) a few coins!

Yes, I just looked for "Jazz for Moderns" and some of the Nocturne titles. . gone.

I did a look for several titles in the Living Legends series and a Lu Watters title. .. gone. I'm not going to do a comprehensive look right now, but I bet that the "slow sellers/non post bop" titles are thinned out considerably.

You may be right. Sure was a one of a kind event! I was just thinking of that sale yesterday when I was (unfortunately) spending a lot of time in the same waiting room I made my first order from that sale. . . one of the most exciting things that I've ever done in a clinic waiting room! I got myself pretty well set on OJC titles!

I don't know Al. . . a lot of the titles I bought last summer on the blowout sale. .. just aren't there.

I avoided Spyro Gyra, who lots of people thought I would adore as I "liked jazz." I also avoided Don Ellis and Maynard Ferguson of the 'seventies. Just didn't dig that stuff.

VERY attractive woman. . . .Sang with Clapton for a while. My headmaster at my boarding school in M'Babane was also my Latin prof, a big incentive to do well in the class, especially since I was about two years behind the class when I first came to the school. He liked to tell the story that Andrew Lloyd Weber was a student of his in England, and he did not do well in Latin and my headmaster (Michael Stern) would tell him over and over "If you don't knuckle under and do better in your Latin and other subjects YOU WILL NEVER AMOUNT TO ANYTHING!" Well. . .Michael Stern was at least willing to highlight when he ws wrong.

I've been using a now discontinued Sony five cd SACD/DVD player, modified with a tube output stage. The stock outputs are. . . okay, almost good. The transport section is. . .really good. Not a problem in years of use, has never yet not read a disc, and a quite nice mechanism. I think that a Sony five disc changer would be a good source for use with a digital analog converter (DAC) if you went that route.

Mono recording was not as uncommon (especially outside the "industry") in 1964 as you might think. (Or at least that has been my discovery). This is going to be GREAT. I almost agree about "all Mingus." I can do without a chunk of the last three or four years to be honest.
