I passed them because I'm not an AEC fan.

I avoided the first three you list. . . I have the Braxton and enjoy it. . . .
  4. Well if it were me, I'd be torn. . . . I'd either buy some NOS vacuum tubes for my stereo equipment (there's always some new tubes to try, it's fun!) or I'd work on my Mosaic Wish List on the site, which has lots of Selects in them (I have most of the material in these sets separately so I have hesitated to buy them, but with a windfall. . .)
  5. The Worlds price on the South is excellent, about five or more (when you factor shipping) cheaper than cduniverse.
  6. I'd skip the Gillespie Mosaic for now, it's in my opinion better value at a discount if one ever becomes available. See if you can track down used copies of the Rollins and Henderson boxes, and consider something very new to you, like maybe the Lu Watters and the Yurba Buena Jazz band box on Good Time Jazz (Newbury Comics has it at half price) of the Storyville Duke Box.
  7. I got the first of these two sets the other day , like you say proto-mosaics. very nice, . Didn't realise there was a Volume 2 , I'll look out for it Released in the US only Clunky - so any copy over here would be an import. Vol 1 was released in the UK as well as the US. I bought Vol 1 after one of the BBC Radio 2 jazz programmes ('Sounds of Jazz' I think) played one of the Roy Porter tracks with Dolphy. All of the Lateefs by the way are excellent. Two of my favourites - 'Morning' and 'Gong'. Both in great sound. I have all the Lateef lps (not the reissue doubles) and have to agree, they're great.
  8. With a few tracks missing I think.
  9. Don't neglect this SOB
  10. I sure hope that Atlantic/Savoy finallly gets around to doing something with all volumes of Black California, and with the Brothers and Other Mothers two lp set and other Moore and Eager material.
  11. It's not out yet. If you dig around the Worlds site I think you'll find it as an "upcoming" cd. Worlds does this with a number of releases, you can order it, and it will be charged to you and will ship to you when it is released. Worlds gets Jazz Oracles, and a lot of European releases, before other distributors do, somehow. No complaints from me, the only hitch being you pay full price for them. I'm a big fan and support of Worlds. This cd will be interesting. I have some live Three Ts material on an Aircheck Records lp. . . I don't know if this cd will duplicate that material and also have more or not, but it's likely to be a fun cd. The Teagarden 1930 cd is good, and the Eddie South is in my opinion REAL good, I like it best of all the South I have.
  12. On the Twelfth of Never.
  13. Actually, I believe they've corrected that over the last three years by releasing two cd sets at a really low price, good move.

  15. No, not really.
  16. The slugs I have problems with wear ties. . . and won't go near cheap beer.
  17. Allen, if I ever get serious about my guitar playing, this would be the amp I'd try to get and use with a cabinet: http://www.decware.com/newsite/zenguitar.htm Decware makes fantastic tube equipment, I've been a stereo customer of theirs for years, completely satisfied. Decware also makes a combo amp. . . wooden case with speaker. You sould at least call Steve Deckert and talk to him about his EL84 guitar amp. . . .(309) 671 2428
  18. Kindof doubt any of those will come out as Connoisseurs. . . .
  19. Happy birthday and many more happy returns! I feel old too. . . and for the most part glad of it!
  20. The series has contained material from some of those other labels (and Transition).
