  1. I'd quite like to see that game myself, local rivals and all that. :tophat:
  2. Even if times are hard that's very bad, if they don't have it and don't know when they're going to get it, they shouldn't have charged you.
  3. For those who like their Podcasts and as the new season is about to start, follow this one, it's very good. Football Weekly: 2009-10 season preview
  4. Let us know what you think, although I feel I have been convinced to get his one myself. :tophat:
  5. Yea, I've been enjoying some of the "old school" Jazz recently and these both look good, not too keen on vocals though.
  6. Oddly enough I was also considering the Ellington.
  7. Well, it was issued in the US on the Complete 50s Conn, there are two Japanese issues in print [TOCJ 1517 and TOCJ 9581], and there's a double 45 LP for the ultra fussy. Yea I get your point, but most, if not all, of the BN discography has been on CD at one time or another, I was refering to making these types of albums available to the masses via the RVG series.
  8. Roswell Rudd's liners are something else. Yea they're very good, personal without getting to wishy-washy, the musics not too bad either, just love "Sunday Stroll", could listen to it over and over again. I was giving disc one of the The Complete Verve Johnny Hodges Small Group Sessions 1956-1961 a spin last night and I was really blown away by Jimmy Hamilton and his clarinet, among other things, really great stuff.
  9. I was wondering what was going on at Arsenal recently and this article kinda explains it. Arsène Wenger promises signings as sales break up dressing-room clique
  10. Looks like I'm going to have to get myself some Tiny Grimes, nice description Jim. Here's an Amazon link with a small photo and a few small sound clips of what Jim was talking about.
  11. Thanks for the feedback everyone but a major "D'OH" on my part was not checking AMG first, they happen to have sound clips of the whole set so I will go through them just to get a flavour of it. Seems it would be fair to describe this set as a "Mini-Me" to the 3 OOP Complete Commodore Jazz Recordings sets???
  12. I don't remember reading to much about this set on here or even seeing it mentioned and try searching for H.R.S. or HRS and see what you get. :D I like a bit of "early" Jazz and I'm guessing his one might be a good way to get a nice selection of sessions, oddly enough though, they don't have any sound samples for this one on the Mosaic site. Any thoughts/opinions on this one??? The Complete H.R.S. Sessions (#187)
  13. I'd add Gil Melle - Patterns in Jazz as another one I'd like to see re-issued, great little session.
  14. Didn't he record with Bird a few times, or was it Bird recording with him??? Either way, I love all of the early electric guitarists I've heard, something about the tone they got from the very basic equipment they were using or maybe it was just down to the way it was recorded, but it's a fantastic sound.
  15. No you're not, weirdest trade ever and Inter got paid as well as getting Eto. Yep i know Ibrahimovic has a 4 year contract while Eto'o will be free next year but still.... considering what is the real worth of a contract in international Futbol... Yep, it was one of the worst deals ever and now that Helb won't go to Inter on loan, Barca actually have to pay more than the "Barca will part with a reported 45million euros" quoted in this article. Ibra seals Barca switch And Ibrahimovic is out for 3 weeks so he probably won't be fully fit for the start of the season!!! Ibrahimovic out for three weeks
  16. It's official then, Xabi Alonso submits transfer request at Liverpool, according to reports And this is a nice graph of what Liverpool will miss. Alonso's passing v Hull last season.
  17. I recently acquired the Herbie Nichols Mosaic via eBay, it was quite expensive and after I won the auction I had instant buyer’s remorse, but as soon as I listened to all 3 discs and got stuck into the excellent liners that soon disappeared.
  18. Just an FYI, Mosaic has put original liner notes in the booklets, the Herbie Nichols and Tristano sets both had the original notes, but not all of the material they release had "original" liner notes, e.g. did the Basie/Lester recordings have liners or cover art when it was first released??? No, the various re-issues over the years did, but "originally" no, so if you are trying to create a consistent and identifiable product, it makes sense to do it the way they are doing it. I think Popkin's list below has some good candidates for re-issue and I'd add Herbie Nichols to the list. I'd go along with what Claude says below for the various recent Concord re-issues, I don't think there is any "new" mastering done on these, but the Blue Note ones seem to be a little bit better most of the time, but the standard has dropped in other areas, notes, photo's in the booklet, etc.
  19. Kind of lame, as Liverpool seems poised to be the best team in the EPL next season... Ooh...I'd have to resepctfully disagree here! I have to come clean and admit to being not their biggest fan by any stretch of the imagination, but nonetheless, I was pretty amazed they finished where they did last season...minus Alonso (should that happen), they'll rely even more heavily on Gerrard...if he doesn't get his quota of goals, or if he should get an injury somewhere along the way, I can certainly see them not getting an automatic Champions' League spot for 2010-11... And you're basing that opinion on what??? Gerrard and Torres were injured a lot last season, they started less than 20 games together or something like that. Losing Alonso would be a big blow, but no CL??? eh, don't think so, you're way off.
  20. No you're not, weirdest trade ever and Inter got paid as well as getting Eto.
  21. Interesting interview with ole whisky nose himself, Sir Alex Ferguson refuses to accept 'small club' Manchester City as a threat
