I'd add Gil Melle - Patterns in Jazz as another one I'd like to see re-issued, great little session.

Didn't he record with Bird a few times, or was it Bird recording with him??? Either way, I love all of the early electric guitarists I've heard, something about the tone they got from the very basic equipment they were using or maybe it was just down to the way it was recorded, but it's a fantastic sound.

No you're not, weirdest trade ever and Inter got paid as well as getting Eto. Yep i know Ibrahimovic has a 4 year contract while Eto'o will be free next year but still.... considering what is the real worth of a contract in international Futbol... Yep, it was one of the worst deals ever and now that Helb won't go to Inter on loan, Barca actually have to pay more than the "Barca will part with a reported 45million euros" quoted in this article. Ibra seals Barca switch And Ibrahimovic is out for 3 weeks so he probably won't be fully fit for the start of the season!!! Ibrahimovic out for three weeks -

Which Mosaic Are You Enjoying Right Now?
Cliff Englewood replied to Soulstation1's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I recently acquired the Herbie Nichols Mosaic via eBay, it was quite expensive and after I won the auction I had instant buyer’s remorse, but as soon as I listened to all 3 discs and got stuck into the excellent liners that soon disappeared. -
Just an FYI, Mosaic has put original liner notes in the booklets, the Herbie Nichols and Tristano sets both had the original notes, but not all of the material they release had "original" liner notes, e.g. did the Basie/Lester recordings have liners or cover art when it was first released??? No, the various re-issues over the years did, but "originally" no, so if you are trying to create a consistent and identifiable product, it makes sense to do it the way they are doing it. I think Popkin's list below has some good candidates for re-issue and I'd add Herbie Nichols to the list. I'd go along with what Claude says below for the various recent Concord re-issues, I don't think there is any "new" mastering done on these, but the Blue Note ones seem to be a little bit better most of the time, but the standard has dropped in other areas, notes, photo's in the booklet, etc.

Kind of lame, as Liverpool seems poised to be the best team in the EPL next season... Ooh...I'd have to resepctfully disagree here! I have to come clean and admit to being not their biggest fan by any stretch of the imagination, but nonetheless, I was pretty amazed they finished where they did last season...minus Alonso (should that happen), they'll rely even more heavily on Gerrard...if he doesn't get his quota of goals, or if he should get an injury somewhere along the way, I can certainly see them not getting an automatic Champions' League spot for 2010-11... And you're basing that opinion on what??? Gerrard and Torres were injured a lot last season, they started less than 20 games together or something like that. Losing Alonso would be a big blow, but no CL??? eh, don't think so, you're way off. -

Suggest Some Essential Delta Blues
Cliff Englewood replied to Teasing the Korean's topic in Recommendations
Yes, that is supposed to be a good one with very good sound quality, although I have this set and have no problems with the fidelity, a few tracks are worse than others, nothing major though. McTell nuts should also get this if they see it, very, very, very good; -

I have the ones listed above and would second the recommendation, but I would recommend anything that's on Old Hat, they're an excellent label. -

Get the Yazoo instead, it has the same tracks and much better sound; it has more hiss etc. but doesn't sound as dead as the Columbia. Amazon I don't agree. I think that the Yazoo is overwhelmed with hiss. I don't find the Columbia to sound dead. I was thankful when the Columbia CD came out, because my Yazoo was just so noisy that it distracted me too much. I realize that this type of opinion would get me laughed off of the Steve Hoffman forum, to pick one example, but that's the way I hear it. I'd weigh in with Hot Ptah on this one, I think the Columbia sounds much better than the Yazoo, might be cheaper/easier to find as well. -

Kind of lame, as Liverpool seems poised to be the best team in the EPL next season. But then again, moving to the La Liga seems to be the "sexy" thing to do this summer if you're one of the best players in the world, as Xabi surely is. Definitely lame, he was so good last season but he had a major falling out with Benítez, I think the first one was down to the fact that Alonso didn't want to travel to the Inter away game the season before last as his wife was about to give birth and that Rafa was tring to sign Gareth Barry, who is no way as good as Alonso. Still if Liverpool can get £30 million for him, which he is most definitely worth, it would soften the blow a bit. If Adebayor is worth £25 million, I must be worth at least £5 million. Adebayor passes Man City medical -

They are clearly suffering from a condition known as "having more money than sense", there is no way Mark Hughes is going to be able to keep everyone happy in that squad, even with all the money they are getting. Also they will be aiming for top 4, all these guys keep on going on and on about having to play in the Champions League to be considered the best, so that's what will be the minimum requirement next season, whether they make that fact public or not. But the main reason any player is going to City at the moment is that they are paying them twice what they would get elsewhere. Have you seen the figures they are reported to be offering John Terry??? John Terry continues Chelsea talks as Manchester City prepare new bid -
