Yes, that is supposed to be a good one with very good sound quality, although I have this set and have no problems with the fidelity, a few tracks are worse than others, nothing major though. McTell nuts should also get this if they see it, very, very, very good;

I have the ones listed above and would second the recommendation, but I would recommend anything that's on Old Hat, they're an excellent label.

Get the Yazoo instead, it has the same tracks and much better sound; it has more hiss etc. but doesn't sound as dead as the Columbia. Amazon I don't agree. I think that the Yazoo is overwhelmed with hiss. I don't find the Columbia to sound dead. I was thankful when the Columbia CD came out, because my Yazoo was just so noisy that it distracted me too much. I realize that this type of opinion would get me laughed off of the Steve Hoffman forum, to pick one example, but that's the way I hear it. I'd weigh in with Hot Ptah on this one, I think the Columbia sounds much better than the Yazoo, might be cheaper/easier to find as well.

Kind of lame, as Liverpool seems poised to be the best team in the EPL next season. But then again, moving to the La Liga seems to be the "sexy" thing to do this summer if you're one of the best players in the world, as Xabi surely is. Definitely lame, he was so good last season but he had a major falling out with Benítez, I think the first one was down to the fact that Alonso didn't want to travel to the Inter away game the season before last as his wife was about to give birth and that Rafa was tring to sign Gareth Barry, who is no way as good as Alonso. They are clearly suffering from a condition known as "having more money than sense", there is no way Mark Hughes is going to be able to keep everyone happy in that squad, even with all the money they are getting. Also they will be aiming for top 4, all these guys keep on going on and on about having to play in the Champions League to be considered the best, so that's what will be the minimum requirement next season, whether they make that fact public or not. I think the earlier the Barney, the better. Like Jammin' the Blues. For me, he got progressively more heavy-handed and corny. I liked his chords---they leapt out and announced themselves---and his blues feel and his soloing when he copied Christian. I like the job he did on Julie London's Julie is Her Name. After that it falls apart for me. But he never was a bebopper. Jimmy Raney was the bebopper. Kessel was a real blues player and swing-era child of Charlie Christian. I doubt he was scared to play with Bird, though I wasn't in his head. He was a pro by then. He just didn't really exactly fit in, though he did a good job. I think the cats probably liked him well enough. Too bad Jimmy never recorded with Bird. He was the first guitar player to 'get it'. Interesting stuff there fasstrack, I suppose Barney never really was a bopper per say, just a really amazing musician. I think the amount of session work he ended up doing may have had something to do with the decline you're hearing, althought I must say, I don't really hear it myself. But he did work for both Brian Wilson and Phil Spector and that would probably end up hurting anyone's brain. :D
