  1. Quite frankly, you haven't lived unless you've heard "Space Guitar".
  2. I am quite curious about these Perkins releases, any opinions on the other two? I'm also interested in the Marsh release? Any info. would be appreciated. Cheers.
  3. Got this one recently, only had a chance to listen to it once, was quietly impressed, doesn't seem as "flash" as his earlier stuff, more thoughful and restrained although that could be something to do with his age/heraring.
  4. It's a raid on the Mosaic box selections that include Hall, plus Seven Pieces, the Easy Way and a few other odds and ends. I think I have some of this stuff somewhere, must dig it out and re-aquaint myself with it. Cheers for the info. chaps.
  5. Cheers for that jazztrain, don't suppose you have a discog. or list of the albums it covers?
  6. There are two recordings with Zoot that I know of, I only have the second one which I would highly recommend, This one... and this one...
  7. I can't find a track list for this one yet. It has 4 discs and is on Gambit but looks interesting. What kind of stuff would be on it?
  8. Now that's a reed section I would like to hear, are these recordings easy to find?
  9. PM sent regarding: Perkins & Kamuca - Tenors Head On (pacific jazz) Sealed $10
  10. Got my set from Alec this morning, damn that was fast, do you have a time machine?

  12. Stop being such a baby, there is one available for as little as $786.00 on Amazon, pay up and stop whining.
  13. Sent you a PM. Cheers.
  14. Hi Alec, did you get the PM I sent you on the 25th? Cheers.
  15. Ditto to that, "Bud Plays Bird" is a great little album.
  16. Hi Alec, just wondering did you get my PM? Cheers.
  17. I just ordered a couple of guitar ensemble charts arranged by Mundell for the studio class I'm teaching. Not very familiar with him, but I like what I'm hearing. If you do a search on youtube there's loads more of him, including duets with Louis Stewart, who lives here in Ireland, and seems to gig fairly regularly in Dublin yet I've still not gone to see him. Yes, I am an arsehole.
  18. I might have to spend more time with this one but on the first listen, I really didn't like it.
  19. More youtubery, this time some vintage Barney Kessel, I really like his playing, bluesy, direct and no fluff or waste and the fact that he is seriously cool. Modest while talking about playing with Ricky Nelson and Elvis Presley, he's also on "Pet Sounds" by the way. Barney Kessel in conversation. Barney Kessel - "Our Day Will Come". Barney Kessel - "Like Someone in Love". Barney Kessel - "Recado Bossa Nova". Barney Kessel - "Make Someone Happy". Barney Kessel - "Love For Sale". Barney Kessel - "One Mint Julep". He rocks!!!
  20. After checking out some of the "The Subject is Jazz" clips on good ol' youtube from Larry's thread, I came accross some very nice Mundell Lowe clips. I think that's a "real" D'Angelico he is using, ie one made by John D'Angelico. Mundell Lowe
  21. Cheers Larry, here's a link for a 15 minute clip from the show in question so we'll all know what "COOL" is.
  22. Hey sidewinder, I saw this one myself and was more than a bit curious, but I had just purchased the Fresh Sounds 2 cd set and wasn't sure it would be up to the same standard, is it? Cliff - I don't know the Fresh Sounds Shihab set but can vouch that this one is top notch Shihab. Up to the best standard of sessions like 'Seeds' and 'Companionship' and the work with CBBB etc. I don't have the CD but I have one of those Oktav Japanese facsimile LPs, which sounds fantastic. Recommend that next time this comes in at Dusty, press the trigger marked 'fire' . I think the fact that it has at least one (???), vocal track on it was putting me off, oh yeah, that and the price. I think it was nearly €20 or something like that.
  23. Wait, I thought that was my job, you mean to tell me you were doing this as well?
