  1. As usual with these threads, now that the box is available, there is very little discussion on the content. How are the notes, sound quality etc, etc????
  2. PM sent on Lennie Tristano/Konitz/Marsh Atlantics (6CDs) 175.
  3. PM sent on the Select.
  4. Sent you PM regarding your Savoy stuff.
  5. The Lester Young/Count Basie Sessions 1936-1940 (#239)
  6. Thanks Quasimado, that's odd about Pepper because he played with him during Pepper's later years, on the "Hollywood All-Stars" sessions. I always felt 50's Pepper was almost like a Tristano-ite, in the way he approached a few standards he returned too, like "I Can't Believe You're In Love With Me", he does 3 versions that I know of, one with Marsh, the approach is different on all of them, and on the last one on "Intensity" which is my favorite, he is very Marsh like, IMHO.
  7. Thanks for the link ghost of miles, this looks like a great read, I will get this book as soon as I see it, but out of curiosity what does he say about Pepper and Marsh, I would have thought that he rated them both quite highly.
  8. Disc 7 of the Max Roach Set is pretty good.
  9. Thanks chaps, so if I bubble wrap it after securing it with card board and then put it in at least two cardboard boxes it might possibly, have a decent chance, of sorta being O.K.
  10. I have quite a few items I am considering selling but the main concern I have is how would I post them so they will actually get there in one piece, without spending a fortune on packaging/insurance??? Is it safe, in general terms to send vinyl/records through the mail, especially internationally??? Any hints, tips or ideas??? Cheers.
  11. Keepnews is most definitely a cock head.
  12. Mr Goldberg, if you would like a quick and easy way to get a whole load of early Bags, including some of the Prestige and Savoy recordings and, as you are in the U.K., it should be easy to pick up, I can recommend this one; Yes, I know it's a Proper Set and there will more than likely be the usual blah, blah blah, but there is loads there, the notes and sound quality are very good also. Bags of Soul
  13. This is interesting, I think I have a bootleg of dics 1 of this on a cassette that was made for me by the husband of an employee of AMOEBA who mentioned it when I was talking to her about Gram while paying for other Gram related stuff, this was maybe ten years ago???
  14. CDs arrived, thanks a million.
  15. "All Night Long" was released as a 24bit digi-pack very recently, I know because I bought one. It says, "Remastered 2003 at ZYX Music studios from original analog tapes with APOGEE PSX 100". It has the 2 extra tracks. I also found a similar version of Rollins "Way Out West"
  16. Thanks for that Jazzshrink, now can you tell me why I hate my parents???
  17. That's exactly what I was thinking, the old one just looked more "Jazzy".
  18. Can you give a bit more info on this one, please; Zoot Sims, “Party” (Choice/ABCJ 390) obi [quartet w/ Rowles, Cranshaw, Roker] What year is it from, live or studio??? Cheers.
  19. Ah, the joys of a Web Forum with no Moderators.
  20. No, not a concern, large or otherwise, more of a FYI. Perhaps it's just your life that is way too soft, so soft in fact that you need to post on threads/subjects you clearly have no interest in.
  21. Just saw this today, not sure I like it, the True Blue site looked kinda like this for the last few weeks as well. New look. True Blue site.
  22. Yea, his playing really did go down hill in later years. Zoot's crappy playing/sound, for those of you in the US, yes, I'm being sarcastic. Zoot being crap with Basie.
  23. Strewth, you need to use dictionary.com and it's helpful links to other online dictionaries. Strewth !!!
  24. Surely that should be "Strewth!", didn't you read those "Warlord" and "Battle" comics!!!!
  25. Are you calling Bob Blumenthal a liar??? 'cause if you are...
