  1. Yes there are a few of these offshoot labels that have really gotten quite brazen now, I've seen everything from "Miles Ahead" to "Mulligan meets Getz" to "Plenty, Plenty Blues".
  2. "The Fox" qualifies, no doubt about it.
  3. So how does emusic work??? What's the catch???
  4. Yes, but "Dick Grunter" would be even better.
  5. Hi Jazzbo. Can you (or anyone else reading this) comment on the sound quality of this new remaster as compared to the 1996 Ojc release? Thanks IMHO, I didn't notice that much of an improvement myself, very slight if any.
  6. I thought it was good at first but my interest waned as it went on. I wouldn't class it as essential.
  7. Just upping this thread as I was doing some Getz searching on the Board and realised that Classics have a disc that covers alot of this material. Track listing: 1 Love and the Weather Berlin 6:34 2 It Don't Mean a Thing Ellington, Mills 6:22 3 Spring Is Here Hart, Rodgers 6:11 4 The Varsity Drag Brown, DeSylva, Henderson 7:00 5 Crazy Rhythm Caesar, Kahn, Meyer 5:53 6 Minor Blues Brookmeyer 7:05 7 Fascinatin' Rhythm Gershwin 8:04 8 Willow Weep for Me Ronell 5:22 9 I Didn't Know What Time It Was Hart, Rodgers 7:41 10 Tangerine Mercer, Schertzinger 7:06 11 The Nearness of You Carmichael, Washington 3:43 12 Pot Luck Mandel 3:56 AMG Link.
  8. ....and of course the added benefit, you'll never have to "upgrade" any of this material again. Unlike the rest of us.
  9. Thanks for posting that.
  10. The Jack Johnson set is great value at that price. I know it's not everyones cup of whatever, but if you were on the fence on that one go for it, the music and the sound is excellent. Nice one for the tip Tjazz.
  11. If I'm not mistaken, it's also where one of Hendrix's burned up Strats ended up too. Zappa's "equipment"...
  12. PM on the way for the following: $24 Count Basie AMERICA'S #1 BAND! (Legacy 4-CD set) $10 HERE'S LEE MORGAN (Vee-Jay, w/Cliff Jordan, Wynton Kelly, PC, & Art Blakey)
  13. I have no morals.
  14. I wasn't that interested until your correction but now that actually sounds quite good, can't get enough of Barney.
  15. I received the CD yesterday, thanks very much. The Gatton-fest has just begun. Just wondering, if I get myself a Telecaster, would I'll be able to play like this???
  16. Sent you another PM during the week, don't know if you received it. Cheers.
  17. 7/4, not only have I never played one, I've never even seen one!!! I'd love to have a go on one though, just because. What I meant was as that particular ES-150 was his main axe during his prime years, it must have been one hell of a guitar. I mean he must have had to have it refretted after those Storyville sessions with Stan the Man Getz, which oddly enough, no one has mentioned in this thread. What's the tune they play again that's actually faster than Bird's "Koko", or something to that effect. I think it was mentioned in the Getz Biog. Small bit of info. on Jimmy here.
  18. The Complete Atlantic Recordings of Lennie Tristano, Lee Konitz & Warne Marsh Thanks for the good vibes, Vibes.
  19. The Tristano Mosaic arrived today, 100% as advertised, it looks brand new, thanks a million for sending it so quickly. Recommended seller and all that good stuff, Cheers.
  20. I love the pictures of that ES-150, what a great axe!!! Been enjoying this one, via the Brookmeyer Select: And this one, although it's not on the Select, it should have been, it just should: Would love to hear this, as Zoot is in the mix, it would probably be as good as the stuff with Getz: This one can't be too bad either:
  21. Sent you a PM yesterday re my previous PM.
  22. Sent you a PM last week, don't know if you got it???
  23. Or even contact Mosaic to buy a copy of the Set itself.
