  1. You are a true "bone head", Free!
  2. She spoke "jive"
  3. Thanks for the heads-up. I haven't listened to the Mosaic as much as I should - this is a good excuse to pull it out.
  4. I wish. Enjoy the show, Peter (I'm sure you will).
  5. Saw this in Walgreens - basically the classic blue & white BN label. Check it out the next time you go to Walgreens of DuaneReade. (couldn't find a bigger image unfortunately) YUM!
  6. Two actually..... This one, Warriors and one recorded for a French label Plus Loin that will released in Europe in November and in the US in March or April. If you are a fan of the all out intensity this group can create, then perhaps the Plus Loin date has a little more of that (it's called Cast the First Stone, a Billy Harper tune). I might be able to get copies of this one early and offer it to you guys at a discounted price if you want. Two? MORE excellent. I've seen you guys out here twice - Healdsburg and Yoshi's. Both great.
  7. An album! Excellent!
  8. Nice article. Short, but informative.
  9. I recently unloaded 2/3 of my vinyl collection (800 LPs) - just no room and I don't play them anymore. One of these days I'll have to part with the last 1/3, too. I had a buyer from Amoeba stop by and he picked them up. It would be WAY too time consuming to try and sell them here or anywhere else. I feel that I got a fair price from them, too, which I took in credit as opposed to cash (apparently very unusual for an acquisition of this size). It's going to be nice to have a long-term credit there.
  10. Where do they come from? They can't be Sony releases.
  11. FWIW, the Ronnie Scott set is available on eMusic.
  12. I'm still confused.
  13. I can't quite figure out why they've repackaged this into 2, 2-disk sets. Did the 4 CD box not sell? The 4-CD set was a limited edition from Hip-O Select. These 2-disc sets are apparently repackaged by Universal for the masses, without the fancy hard-back book. Ohhhhhhhhhh, OK. I didn't realize it was a limited edition. Glad I got it. It's a wonderful set.
  14. Hey, Reynolds, see ep1str0phy's coverage of the show in the Henry Threadgill thread. Very complete.
  15. Yoshi's Jazz Club - Oakland JUST ANNOUNCED: The Tony Williams Lifetime Tribute Band, featuring Jack Bruce, Vernon Reid, John Medeski, and Cindy Blackman - February 2-5, 2011 Tickets on sale this Friday, October 8 at 10am Originally from "Turn It Over"

  17. You should keep that one for the cover alone - I did.
  18. I can't add anything to ep1str0phy's review except that Henry seemed genuinely moved by the enthusiastic response from the crowd at the end of the show. They wanted an encore, but he came out by himself and acknowledged the rapturous applause thanking everyone profusely.
  19. A VERY busy weekend. Went to the hellishly overcrowded Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival yesterday and today. Saw Jerry Douglas (w/Viktor Krauss & Omar Hakim), Patty Griffin, Jon Langford & Skull Orchard, Hot Tuna, Carolyn Wonderland. Wanted to see a lot of other stuff (Richard Thompson, Dave Alvin, Kinky Friedman, Rosanne Cash, etc.), but it's become impossible to navigate the crowds - and no fun. Too bad that it's become too successful for its own good. Went to a charity event with Elvis Costello and Nick Lowe doing each other's tunes last night. Very entertaining. If you want to read more, Joel Selvin breaks it down. Tomorrow night - Henry Threadgill & Zooid, part of the SF Jazz Fall Season.
  20. Nice shots!
  21. Mini-review of the Mosaic box in the NY Times today.
  22. THAT ... I would have liked to see. Hey, Aggggggg, look for the message I sent you a couple of weeks ago (through the board) that explains those numbers at the end of "Even Less". Wild!
  23. Coming up the weekend of Oct 1-3 is the insanely interesting lineup at the FREE Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. Check it out.
  24. Nice piece on the NPR site about Gerald. Lookin' good, too!
  25. Aren't you??
