  1. Finally got "Fear of a Blank Planet" today. At least I can get to know THAT one before the show.
  2. Wanda was good on Curb Your Enthusiasm, but I haven't seen anything else of hers. She wasn't funny at the White House Correspondents dinner. As for SB Cohen, I'm with Bertrand - I fail to find him the least bit funny.
  3. PayPal on it's way!
  4. Ohhhhhhhhhh. I don't think I'm going to be able to make this one. Sorry, guys.
  5. Thanks for chiming in, Alisa. As I said earlier, your brand of programming is rare............or possibly unique in broadcast radio. Keep it coming.
  6. I have a CD of "The Believer" from the fan club. Definitely a needle drop burn. GREAT album, though.
  7. Exactly. BTW, I've taken a hiatus from the eMusic board, too - for the same reason.
  8. Actually, I'm surprised how many 24/7 or nearly 24/7 jazz stations I come across. That said, many don't even meet the KCSM standard. Non-commercial, too? Really?
  9. I would REALLY like to get to know that 55-minute piece before seeing it live. I kind of hope they don't do it under the circumstances. Phil-ly!! Phil-ly!! Phil-ly!!
  10. I'm not a fan of all the personalities on KCSM, but it's so unusual to have a non-commercial radio station that plays jazz (or some semblance of it) 24/7 that I really appreciate its existence.
  11. So, the album comes out on 9/21? They're playing here on 9/18! What's up with that?
  12. Is Sunn O))) considered "prog"? They have a new album out that was reviewed in the NY Times today. "It all concludes with a pastoral solo from the jazz trombonist Julian Priester, who sounds secure in this setting, almost serene." Whoa!
  13. I hate lists.
  14. I'm going to send them some $$ this week.
  15. Sonny Buxton is one of the treasures of KCSM. Not only great music, but great stories and insight.
  16. On the U.S. site, if you click on the link that says "Please read the announcement for details on how this change affects your account," it takes you to a page with a sidebar called "How the change affects your account". Here it tells you what the status is. In my case, in January, I will be paying about the same annual fee, but getting about 1/2 the monthly downloads. Of course, I can pick any plan that I want at that point.
  17. Looks like we're going to be there until Saturday evening. I'll have to see what I can catch on Friday. Jeff Parker and "The Trio" look very promising.
  18. Doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in this era of Miles, Aggggg.
  19. Most sensible post on this subject that I've read since the "news". I'm not happy to be paying more, either, but just as I wasn't surprised when the unlimited policy ended, I'm not surprised about this development. The online music business is growing by the day and competition will force prices to equalize somewhat.
  20. I've been wanting to check him out. He also happens to be photographer Lee Friedlander's son.
  21. Big fan, too. Never saw them with Mingus, but saw the quartet at least a few times - always entertaining. Interestingly, I find their BN albums among their weakest.
  22. My sub expires at the end of January and they are converting my 75/mo to 35/mo for almost the same price. Don't like that, but there are other plans. A couple of interesting notes to take the sting away: * Free Booster Pack! To celebrate the addition of all this great music we're giving you a 15-track booster pack (good for 30 days), free! The booster pack will automatically be added to your account in early August * New album pricing Ever hesitate to download an album comprised of many tracks because it'd eat up so many credits? Album pricing will allow you to download selected albums of 12 or more tracks for the price of 12 downloads. The change will be a boon to fans of classical music and two-minute thrash-masters alike.
  23. Here's the link for the entire announcement. More of the good stuff Not sure if I like this or not. Prices are apparently going up for one thing. Also, I can get major stuff from Amazon if I really want it.
  24. uhhhhhhhhhhh. nevermind on the Johnny Griffin suggestion.
