  1. Yep, nothing wrong with Selects, music-wise. To get the full impact of the "Mosaic experience", you need to get a "big box" set, though.
  2. Great to hear that Tom kicked it all week. Good for him! ... and the lucky fans who caught the shows.
  3. Had some pretty good BBQ last night at a Texas-style place in NYC called "Hill Country". It's in the west 20's - worth checking out. Of course if you want both BBQ and Jazz.......then you gotta go to Blue Smoke/Jazz Standard.
  4. Really great meeting Michael and Peter! Enjoyed the whole show. My favorite piece of the night was "St Vitus Dance" by just the trio. Nothing wrong with Tom Harrell and Eric Alexander, but those three musicians really captured something on that tune. Having said that, I feel fortunate to have seen Harrell. I'm sure he doesn't do many live shows these days and that night he was in fine form.
  5. Conn's a full-time student these days.
  6. I love that Mosaic set! One of those 'hidden gem' boxes that has grown on me over time. Why are you selling?
  7. Thanks for that rec. Listening to the clips - sounds great.
  8. Crazy. You just had a big one 6 months ago! Just the fact that they have streets blocked off from State St is pretty scary. Not to mention San Marcos Pass appears to be closed, too. I'd hate to see the Botanical Gardens go and they're right in the middle of it. I saw that they lost a building already. Hope you're OK, Medjuck!
  9. Saw Mingus Dynasty w/guest John Handy last night. Sort of a tribute to his albums of 50 years ago - "Ah Um" and "Blues and Roots". Needless to say, very entertaining. A great version of "Pork Pie Hat" with Ku-umba Lacy singing Joni's lyrics. Also a good job on "Fables of Faubus". It was good to see John Handy playing these tunes, but he seemed a little lost a couple of times. Maybe it's been 50 years since he played them? Craig Handy tore up the place on tenor. I'm used to seeing him play alto, so that was great to see. He played some flute, too.
  10. I bought tickets for Thurs 5/21, 10:30 show. See you there! Do I need some sort of "reservation" other than my ticket?
  11. Too bad the CD is damn near impossible to find (unless you want to spend $70 on it). This used to be on eMusic, but seems to be gone now.
  12. Maybe this is a case where the book is better than the exhibit.
  13. Did I Cause Kaos? Yes!
  14. That was a great review. I wish it was a closer than 3,000 miles to check it out.
  15. Sounds like a great time, Free! And a fantastic opportunity to hang with some serious blowers! Also, must be nice to get yourself out of Florida ...
  16. Pretty good review in yesterday's NY Times, too. Lessons and Tales for Friends That sounds like it could be an event. Please, let us know details later! OK..........will do.
  17. yeah........price was a major decision-maker on this one. I'm a sucker for bargain-priced pedals, I guess.
  18. Mingus Dynasty on Sunday as part of the SF Jazz Fest. John Handy sitting in with nephew Craig, too.
  19. I must have been tired last night, I "impulse ordered" a Boss SD-1 Super OverDrive pedal from M's Friend. I certainly don't NEED it. OTOH, it was only $39, so........whatever.
  20. EVERY night is a jazz festival in NYC.
  21. Thanks for that, Agg. I made it through about 10 seconds ...
