  1. Trio Beyond Troy Donahue Phil Donahue
  2. FWIW, eMusic has 3 of Raney's Xanadu albums: Solo The Influence Live in Tokyo So, for $0.25 or less per song (depending on your plan), it's even cheaper than the CD.
  3. They just added Enemy Records, so now there are a bunch of albums by Sonny Sharrock, Elliot Sharp, Defunkt, James Chance, and Last Exit (w/Brotzmann, Sharrock, Laswell and Ronald Shannon Jackson). If you're into downtown NYC jazz/noise-rock, this is good stuff.
  4. Thanks. He's going to be playing at the SF Jazz Festival this Fall Season. I'll probably have to go.
  5. Don Ellis - "At Fillmore" Maynard Ferguson - "MF Horn 4 & 5, Live at Jimmy's"
  6. The Loosdrecht set was issued on CD by Black Lion as "Grand Max" and has the same tracks as the 2-LP set. Can probably be found in the used bins. I don't think it's that rare. As for "Paper Man" - definitely a keeper. Worth it for "Household of Saud" alone! But it's a must-have with Gary Bartz, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Joe Chambers. A veritable super-group.
  7. ... and tomorrow Paul McCartney is ...
  8. The new sound of "Day-twah"!
  9. Some of them do have the original liners. Larry Young for example. The Mosaic Selects have cover art, too.
  10. Tom Verlaine tomorrow (Sat.) night. Should be VERY interesting.
  11. FWIW, Gerald and his orchestra are partying down at Yoshi's on July 31, the final day of the Kenny Burrell 75th birthday bash week. Also includes Joey DeFrancesco and Hubert Laws. I have no idea how they are going to fit all those people PLUS a B-3 on that stage!
  12. The "You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore" series has some pretty good live stuff covering his entire career.
  13. Just downloaded Rahsaan's "Brotherman in the Fatherland" live album from 1972. Smokin'! If you want live Rahsaan at the top of his game, check this one out.
  14. From today's NY Times: Frank Zappa's Family Brings His Music to a New Audience
  15. Got mine yesterday from CDU. Listened to disk #1 - so far, so good. Great "live" sound, too.
  16. I'm excited, too!! Meanwhile, the fact that the tax incentives are ramping DOWN is just "criminal". I've read the reason behind it, but it's a twisted logic that I don't even remember. If anything, tax credits for hybrid and low emission vehicles should be ramping UP.
  17. Oh man, I'm in the Bay Area on vacation at that time! GOOD timing!
  18. The GW sessions of Johnny Hartman's "Unforgettable" are pretty impressive, too. Heads up: At the end of July, Yoshi's is having a 5-day Kenny Burrell 75th birthday bash featuring Joey DeFrancesco & Hubert Laws. The last day of that run - 7/31 - they are joined by the Gerald Wilson Jazz Orchestra. Definitely a show NOT to miss.
  19. I got MY pre-order in ...

    Albert Ayler

"Holy Ghost" was just added to the eMusic catalog. Whew!
  21. When is it NOT "Rum and Coke night"??
  22. Nice shots, Barak! Keep up the good work. I just recently downloaded that album from eMusic, although I haven't listened to it yet.
  23. 40 years ago, i bought the ones HE wanted me to hear. that's all i care about. But 40 years ago "he" couldn't put more than about 40 minutes of music onto one album. Considering many of his pieces are in the 10 minute range, that didn't leave room for very many cuts.
  24. Uhhhhhhhh......are YOU the promoter, We No Speak?
