  1. Make that FIVE.
  2. OK, Lon......I'll keep an eye out for it.
  3. Just downloaded the newly added vocalist Joe Carroll "Man with a Happy Sound". He is a singer who was with Dizzy in the early 50s and does some of his most 'rockin' tunes here. Not only does he have some tasty Grant Green on this session, but some super-greeeezy organ by someone named Specs Williams. Check it out (especially Soulstation1!).
  4. It was a nice album for Tony Williams, too. He wasn't very active in the late 70's.
  5. I wonder if "Tollbooth" is in the pipeline for a remaster. It's not like it was a major release or anything. Same with Crosby. I would like to have CDs of both of those, too.
  6. BTW - Pick up "A Box Of Birds" by The Church. It's a really fine collection of covers by everyone from The Beatles to Iggy Pop to Hawkwind.
  7. Aggie, haven't been able to find out who's on that Leena album. No info on AMG or her label's web site. The clips do sound like mainstream pop/soul, but from what I can tell, they also sound like there's a little more there than meets the eye (ear?). Here are some photos of her with Wm Parker (you can see photos of him, too): Pictures: Leena Conquest
  8. Ehhhhh.........he was just the poor man's Elvin Jones.
  9. Listening to "Blows" right now. What a great album. Each tune flows seamlessly into the next. Very dreamy. Did it ever arrive for you, Lon?
  10. Still enjoying Wm Parker's "Raining on the Moon". Been paying more attention to the vocalist, Leena Conquest. Never heard of her other than here. She has an album that eMusic carries and I've been thinking of downloading it.
  11. Wrong coast, FFA. You gotta come out West!
  12. I picked up an Iomega 160 external last year. Seems pretty good to me. They seem to run sales pretty frequently.
  13. "Straight Street" is a REALLY nice Mabern album.
  14. Yes you do! Your next DLs should be "A Sure Thing", "Big 6" and "Blue's Mood"
  15. Hey, Conn. I didn't know you liked Joe Henderson!
  16. Interesting. I have this on vinyl with that tune. Yet the version of the album on eMusic does not include "I'll be Seeing You" or the alt version of "My Favorite Things". I assume this is how the CD is configured, too.
  17. Here's an interesting use of it in conjunction with the NRDC - BioGems Tour
  18. I first heard about them a few months ago on NPR. You can listen to the interview with them and Zorn ... HERE.
  19. John McNeil - "East Coast Cool"
  20. Do it, SS. I read on the eMu board that others have been credited for re-DL-ing it.
  21. "Sconsolato" IS brilliant. I love that tune! The rest of the album is no slouch, either. I just realized (never noticed, somehow) that he's backed by members of the Clarke-Boland Big Band. Awsome! Have to listen to this one again.....soon. I like many of his Muse albums, too. Especially the first half dozen or so - my favorite being "Mark Murphy Sings". Nearly a perfect album.
  22. Do you have the "build-able" stash box version? I've actually got a sealed copy of that.......just to have it. If I remember correctly, "Twilight Double Leader" isn't a bad song.
  23. Hey, Wes ... happy big 4-0!
  24. Lon - the blackface performance is on the "Fly Jefferson Airplane" DVD. It was for TV........Smothers Brothers, I think. FWIW, "Long John Silver" is a 'completists only' purchase. I have it on vinyl, but never listened to it more than a few times. "Takes Off" is a 'must have' though. I never really heard it until I got the new re-master. I was VERY impressed. Signe Anderson more than holds her own with the band.
