  1. These were my first 2 - in the late 80's sometime. I still have the FZ CD and have since "upgraded" Harmony Row to a newer remaster.
  2. Where can I pre-order this set??!?
  3. Of the Steeplechase, I like "Bouncing with Dex" and "The Apartment" a lot.
  4. "Homecoming" is a late-period classic that announced Dexter's return to the American jazz scene. It's a high-energy live recording from the Village Vanguard in December 1976. With Woody Shaw, Ronnie Matthews, Stafford James and Louis Hayes, it's a must-have.

    Why And How

Glad you're enjoying it! Maybe I should track down a CD version myself.
  6. All those Jimmy Heaths are worth DL-ing, SS. Some nice Delmark albums added today.
  7. TWO new albums from Tom Verlaine. One instrumental and one "regular" album. Around Songs and Other Things
  8. I bought a Compaq a few months ago that has a LightScribe burner in it. To be honest......I've never tried that feature. It came with one LS compatible disk, but just haven't gotten around to using it.
  9. The Raconteurs - Jack White, Brendon Benson and The Greenhornes rhythm section. Interesting power-pop.
  10. Sure SS. That's a great album. DL it NOW! Today I downloaded the new "The Raconteurs" album which was just released today, too, I believe. It's a Jack White (of the White Stripes) power-pop project. Sounds pretty good. FWIW, they also added all of the White Stripes albums. Is eMusic going commersh??!!?
  11. The REAL question is: Who on this board got the LOWEST numbered set?
  12. Thad Jones' 3CD set just sold for $169.16. That's over $50/disk. I've never seen this set go for so much. At the same time, Jackie Mac went for $124.05, which seems a bit low to me.
  13. I just realized I didn't specify that I was talking about Hubbard's CTIs, when I was talking about essentials. I agree about the Airto's and Farrell's as being solid albums, too. Turrentine's Sugar and Cherry are worthwhile sessions, as well. I'm sure I'm leaving out some others, but since this thread was specifically about Freddie's CTI albums, that's what I was responding to.
  14. I think "Red Clay" and "Straight Life" are essentials for any jazz collector. I wouldn't be able to rate one over the other. They're both VERY solid. I can't say that any of the other CTIs are nearly as interesting, though.
  15. Last year I upgraded to the yearly plan that gives me 65 DLs/month. I figured out that it was only about $2/month more than the basic plan and I get over 50% more tunes. Worth it.
  16. This box set has been available forever. It doesn't quite rank as popular as hotcakes. It'll be interesting to see if there will be any price bump on the secondary market once it sells out. It might take some time... I forget, how many sets did $$1 get?

    Why And How

Worth tracking down. The whole album is good and you can't get any better than the Clarke-Boland Big Band members joining in.
  18. Me too (in Oakland last Fall). I'll cherish those concerts forever. If that was the "Night of the Cookers" show, I was there, too. Great music. Sorry to see you go, John ...
  19. It's actually on eMusic but with no tracks to download. What does that mean? All the tracks seem to be there now. GO for it!
  20. You know what's REALLY slow? Try clicking on a member's name to get their information. Takes forever......if it connects at all.
  21. OH, yeah! That one's got "High Heel Sneakers" - smokin' ! Also part of the Mosaic box ...
  22. All you Blue fans got his Mosaic before it went OOP, I assume.
  23. Interesting. I was going to say Jeanne Lee with Mal Waldron. I also like Andy Bey with Gary Bartz
  24. I think "Avars" is my favorite here. The head is TOTALLY c-o-o-l ...
  25. You can listen to samples and even some full tracks here: Paul Simon
