  1. Agreed. One of his best. This album closely mirrors Mark's album and worth checking out if you can find it. Recorded a couple of years earlier, includes Sconsolato and Just Give Me Time.
  2. I have tickets for Parlour Game with Jenny Scheinman violin, Allison Miller drums, Carmen Staaf piano and Tony Scherr bass on Sunday at SFJAZZ. Sadly, that show and several others (incl the 2020 NEA Jazz Masters & Tribute Concert) over the next few weeks have been canceled.
  3. Oh, noooooooo!! I wonder if that event will be cancelled, too?
  4. Very sad about the cancellation, but understandable.
  5. Riverside ‎"Anno Domini High Definition"
  6. Always liked his performance in Three Days of the Condor - a small, but VERY memorable role in the film.
  7. What you guys said ... the Boston set is a must-have!
  8. Listened to most of the first 2 disks. I like it a lot! The sound is great, and the performances are different enough to make them interesting. The only clunker so far is "Passing the Time" which has a Toad drum solo in the middle. The song doesn't hold up well live, and the long solo makes no sense there.
  9. This has me worried about the fate of Big Ears. If they can cancel a massive festival like SXSW, they can cancel this.
  10. Saw him a number of times over the years. The first being at Keystone Korner during the stint where they recorded Atlantis in '74. I wish I could remember more about that show! More recently I saw him once or twice when he was looking quite frail, but when he sat down at the piano he still had that spark. RIP, McCoy!
  11. I've only listened to a couple of tracks. I doubt there will be anything outrageously new, especially since all the set lists are basically the same (except for a couple of tracks in Oakland). But since this was a largely improvisational band I look forward to hearing how the tunes vary from date to date.
  12. Arriving today, but currently streaming on Amazon.
  13. A lot of interesting panels announced, too. Not sure when I'll have time to see them, but it depends on scheduling, obviously.
  14. Chuck - Wikipedia has a lengthy piece about the history of records, including speeds. Maybe the answer is here! Phonograph record
  15. Will definitely try to catch them at Big Ears.
  16. The BNBB seems SO long ago! It was great for most of its life, but collapsed under an avalanche of infighting and endless bitching about Nora Jones. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, the good old days ...
  17. Mine, too!
  18. Seems like it would be a perfect place to see Charles!
  19. I didn't realize that he lives in SB. I was especially intrigued because it was recorded at the Lobero. Haven't been there in longer than I can remember, but it was always a very nice venue.
