  1. Watched this interview with the members of Beat - a band that's playing mid-80s King Crimson albums. With Belew and Levin (who were in that version of KC) plus Steve Vai and Danny Carey from the band, Tool. Very interesting conversation about the current band and also Belew/Levin's experiences in the original band with Fripp and Bruford. I need to listen to Discipline, Beat and Three of a Perfect Pair
  2. Just discovered this album (I know - I'm probably late to the party). What a trio - fantastic!
  3. The recent Bobby Hutcherson Mosaic box is tremendous!
  4. Pyroclastic released one track from this forthcoming album. Interesting combination of musicians and the track makes me want to hear more.
  5. He started posting a lot on Substack recently. Mostly about albums he listened to each day. Kind of out of the blue, since he's been kind of 'invisible' for many years. https://substack.com/@martywillsonpiper
  6. The Arkestra at Big Ears in March
  7. He was just here in the Bay Area. I should have gone, but I have seen him quite a few times. He's always good.
  8. Excellent new album, produced by Don Dixon (drawing of a young James by Ken Kesey)
  9. Bees And Seas (The Best Of Slobberbone)
  10. Oh - OK, I'll check it out! Not sure that after 40+ years it will "ring any bells", but worth watching anyway!
  11. Thanks, David. That video says it's from 1985. The show I saw was 4/12/81.
  12. Thanks for the suggestions. I figured there would be few options. I'll keep my eyes open and try to find a good donation source. Nauck's look intriguing, too
  13. "Live" is pretty excellent, too. I was at the Great American Music Hall in SF for the April 12 show, too
  14. Listening to the recent Bobby Hutcherson box. One note: I have about 20 Mosaic black box sets that all live in the same location of my living room. It receives direct sunlight during certain seasons, but NONE of the boxes have ever faded in the least bit ... until this one. I just noticed it today. They must have different type of black paper that covers the cardboard. Anyone else notice this?
  15. Would love to see those shows. Saw a similar Threadgill fest like this at Big Ears last year. Every show was great!
  16. I saw them a couple of times in Santa Barbara in 1973 - Rob Gym and the Bowl. It was Blondie's band in those days.
  17. Been revisiting Jethro Tull recently
  18. Sat in on Mary's Bandcamp listening party for her new album today. Sounded great, so I pre-ordered it.
  19. Saw Rudolph, Liebman and Hamid Drake at the NYC Winter JazzFest 2019. Good show! He was at Big Ears this year, but I didn't get a chance to see him.
  20. Went to this show, waited a few hours past when he was supposed to hit the stage. Finally went home about midnight. RIP, Sly!
