  1. Ellis Larkin(s) - Perfume and Rain. (Storyville. Japanese 10" reissue. Wish I could find more of these...)
  2. Played this tonight and remembered this thread...
  3. I drank the last of the Fat Squirrel last night. The wait begins until next summer, the annual trip to the cooler clime of Wisconsin. Unfortuneately, the WI brew isn't distributed out of state.
  4. Ya know... I had my music spending under control until I came back last month. I bet I've spent more on music in the last month or so than in the previous 7 - 8 months combined... On the plus side, I have co-workers randomly stopping by my office just to chat and see what's playing. Too true. On the flip side, when I feel the need to part with some CDs (and I am very close to that now), this is a good place to offer them before practically giving them away at Reckless (or Dusty Groove). Totally unrelated, but Vijay Iyer is going to be doing a week-long stand in St. Louis in January. If you haven't heard him live, you should check him out. I'm trying to come up with a plausible reason to make the trip down... All my trips to Chicago and I still haven't stepped foot in DG! Where is he playing? At Jazz at the Bistro?
  5. Wow! You guys have some wonderful stuff!!! Love the B/W framed pics. Here's the back wall of the music room with the prints from Ella's Gershwin box.

  7. David Murray Octet - Picasso (DIW) Blue Note Conn - The Lost Sessions Oscar Pettiford - Another One (Bethlehem) And this CD two-fer on Verve: Gary McFarland - How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying Bob Brookmeyer - Gloomy Sunday
  8. Thanks for the heads up. My kids love, love, love Here Come the 123's and Here Come the ABC's. My son, now a 2nd grader, loves his science class so this may be right up his alley.
  9. Just checked the Canada site. The Bonde system is online but I didn't see the CD drawers. http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/search/?query=bo...mp;pageNumber=0
  10. Wierd. You're right, its not on the web site but the Bonde system was in the Chicago store in September. Its also in the 2009 catalog I'm looking at right now. Maybe call your local Ikea and see if they have any in stock? I hope its not discontinued.... Doh!!!
  11. OK. Here's the least fuzzy pic I have. The drawer has four shelves, two on each side, and holds approx 160 CD's. I have four drawers, three installed, and a spare ready for action. They were sold out last time I visited the Chicago shop but I'm planning on buying a few more next time I'm in town. Here's a link to a larger version of the pic for more detail: Ikea CD Drawer
  12. I'll take a couple of pics of the Ikea Bonde with CD drawers. Nice solution and definitely affordable.
  13. Local FYE's have had this box $19.99 - $24.99 used so that's definitely a fair price by comparison. I might be tempted if its the third box in their buy 2 used items and get the third at 50% off.
  14. Assuming the masking tape is holding at least a portion of the jacket together. What are you using to secure the jacket after removing the tape?

In general, the mastering on the hybrid SACD/CD releases in the digipacks provide a much more involving "performance" to my ears. Love the whole series. Much better than past masterings and even the most recent round of reissues.
  16. The approach worked for Paste magazine...
  17. Looked up Jackson. Interesting, outsider art. Thanks for the heads up. I'm in Atlanta in a few weeks... know of any galleries that display / sell his work?
  18. lol... just checkin! How much are replacement cartridges? Pretty much limited to B&O replacements right?
  19. Giants - Dodgers (From one coast to the other?) Cardinals - Cubs (Granted, when one team is usually the hammer and the other the nail...)
  20. Billy Bragg Willie & the Poor Boys Slick Willie
  21. A lot of that great young talend came courtesy of the failed Mark Mulder trade (either directly from the Cards or indirectly from the D-Backs from the Haren trade) and this year's Matt Holliday trade. I hope we can resign Holliday... we gave up our best hitting prospect, Brett Wallace, for a shot at the Series and ended up with a big giant THUD instead.
