Trunk Records reissue. Sounding good and the sleeve is definitely an improvement on the Vocalion.

I didn't really want to hear that 😄

No sweat. Just Trunk’s site allocation is gone. It is up for preorder at a number of places, mid July I think.

I’m just spinning the Vocalion LP for first impressions on differences and interestingly they do sound different. More spacious sound with the Vocalion. Possibly also Dave Green comes out clearer in the Trunk. Or maybe it is completely my imagination !

Noticed a bit of tape bleed through in the quiet bits which is present in both versions.

I would say that if anything the Vocalion probably has the edge, maybe due to heavier vinyl. Not a massive differential though.

It's a long boat ride from England to the West Coast!

Yes, indeed!

Saw Victor on a triumphant Christmas visit to Ronnie Scott's in 1959, just after he'd joined Cannonball Adderley.

Just reached for my Vocalion and found it's still sealed 🙃

Who is it on the cover? Back when I first started, I assumed it was Randy Weston, a name I didn't really know. Obviously it is.

You're right ...

When and where was this recorded.
I have a "Clear Day" with George Coleman on and obscure LP, not well recorded. It must have been after P.C.´s departure, since it had Ron McLure on bass. Late 60´s ?

Only on vibes, which is a pity as I love his piano work. But then, at the age of 19 I didn't know anything about this. Victor hadn't yet recorded with Cannonball and in those days there was a long gap between the issuing of discs in the U.S. and their appearance here.
