alankin Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 (edited) The Complete Vee Jay Lee Morgan-Wayne Shorter Sessions (Mosaic Records) - disc 1 -- Specifically, the disc with: The Young Lions – The Young Lions [(A) on Morgan-Shorter Vee Jay] (Mosaic – Vee Jay) — With Lee Morgan, Frank Strozier, Wayne Shorter, Bobby Timmons, Bob Cranshaw, Albert "Tootie" Heath or Louis Hayes Edited November 26, 2013 by alankin Quote
king ubu Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 Discs one and two ... and if I get insomnia, disc three, too ... one of my first four or five Mosaics and I dearly love the original quintet sides with Collette, Hall, Katz and Smith ... what a great band! And how great to hear all the live material! Quote
king ubu Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 Disc three now ... love this group! Nothing against Horn and Pisano, but as far as the cello quintet goes, nothing beats the original line-up, Collette is such a wonderful musician, and the chemistry is perfect. Maybe the Horn/Pisano line-up just didn't get to be recorded in a representative way, I don't know ... but the stuff seems - by comparison - too short, too organized. Quote
BFrank Posted November 28, 2013 Report Posted November 28, 2013 One of my favorite Mosaics. Listened to disk #2 last night. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted December 4, 2013 Report Posted December 4, 2013 Curtis Amy Select - now on disc 3 - just starting Katanga. Brilliant set with a fabulous climax! MG Quote
jeffcrom Posted December 11, 2013 Report Posted December 11, 2013 The Jimmy Giuffre 3 from disc four, programmed in the original order. This set has meant a lot to me since it was issued. Tonight it's my farewell to Jim Hall. Quote

Leeway Posted January 1, 2014 Report Posted January 1, 2014 (edited) LPs 1, 2, 3. Was the cover image supposed to be off-center like that, or is that just a case of 'stuff happens'? Kind of like the Eldridge box. Edited January 1, 2014 by Leeway Quote
