Spurred in interest by another recent thread here I pulled out this box and was reminded of how much I enjoy fifties Mobley. And the company he kept.

Mosaic sent a replacement disc - everything's fine now, and the music is great. Wasn't aware that the Duke recorded some real jive stuff as the last session on disc two. I often enjoy the small groups more than the big band stuff.

CD3 - X-75 Vol 1 and 2. Sounds as if it might have been influenced by some of Mingus' Debut work.

I have not purchased this box yet.  I have been relistening to the Dial Mosaic Box, mastered with same person and mastering.  People have complained about the sound of this release. but I think it sounds fine.  I assume you are finding the sound of the Savoy to be similar?
