tranemonk Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 I'm on Disc 4 in the car.... What's up with the silence about this one??? I'm really enjoying this set... More than I thought I would... I'm digging Hamp's vocals... Listening to Disc 1 of the Lionel Hampton set in my car... jeffcrom Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 Listening to Disc 1 of the Lionel Hampton set in my car... I'm liking it a lot... Not too much talk on the board about this one... Don't have the Mosaic set, but bought the RCA/Bluebird Complete set on LP when it came out in 1976. I think that Hampton's Victor recordings include some of the most amazing tracks from the era, as well as some of the most forgettable. But Dr. Jekyll is so good that I'll put up with Mr. Hyde. Quote

Matthew Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 (edited) The Complete Anita O'Day Verve/Clef Sessions: Disk five. Does it make me a bad person that I'm not digging how Jimmy Giuffre is presenting O'Day? seems very pedestrian to me. PS Edit: Exhibit A: Mack The Knife, I do not like what is going on at all.
