You can easily judge by yourself 😜, as the full show is already available on YouTube (see below). From my perspective, it was a good concert, particularly from a visual perspective, also sound wise. And with the plus of being sort of a mythical “comeback”. From a musical standpoint, it was a good mix of pop-rock oriented songs (which I like most, particularly their first three discs) and those heavy rhythms and hypnotic electronic riffs, which, in the latter case, sounded too powerful and abstract for my taste. And no “Creep”, as expected. All in all, I enjoyed the show. Although I would very much prefer a REM comeback 😜 (which is as likely as the return of the dinosaurs 🦕). BTW, the stadium was packed, and this was just the first of four shows in Madrid. Aggie87 Posted November 5 Report Posted November 5 Thanks for sharing - I jumped around that video a bit and liked what I heard. I think they're fascinating and have had an interesting evolution in their sound from the early albums to the more recent stuff. Quote
ejp626 Posted Saturday at 02:00 PM Report Posted Saturday at 02:00 PM Saw Mike Murley and Pat LaBarbera with Neil Swainson(!) at the Rex, playing the music of Joe Henderson. Neil of course played with Joe, and apparently Pat studied with Joe for a few years in the 70s. Joe even asked Pat to join his band, but on bass clarinet, and Pat declined. Anyway, it was a very good couple of sets, ending in a rousing version of In N' Out. Neil and Terry Clarke are playing with Kirk MacDonald at the end of the month at the Jazz Bistro and I'll try to make one of those sets as well. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted Saturday at 02:17 PM Report Posted Saturday at 02:17 PM I saw George Coleman at the Ragattabar in Cambridge, MA last night. At 90, George is having mobility issues but he can still blow that horn. Quote

Though some of the songs were a bit to smooth to my tastes and I didn’t enjoy the female singer, I am happy I managed to see him. Quote

I seriously considered going but I have a few other festival gigs lined up. I also haven't seen him in ages, possibly 30+ years Quote
