paul secor Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 Many thanks to Peter for posting the 30% coupon - used it to pick up the Boudou Saved from Drowning DVD on Criterion. Quote
jlhoots Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 I used both coupons. My wife saved $9 on a yoga mat - she says it's a good deal. I bought 2 CDs. Thanks. Quote
MartyJazz Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 20% off the list price of one item with purchase of $10 or more, 9/7/06 - 9/10/06: http://f.chtah.com/i/9/276579820/coupon10_40907.htm Quote
Big Al Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 How's about 30% off one item, no minimum purchase? I think you have to be a Borders Rewards member, but you never know. Quote

Free For All Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 (edited) 30% off one item with purchase of $10 or more ...through 9/24 The coupon says "discount on electronics and video games is 10%". Didn't someone say that CDs were considered "electronic" items? I hope not. Edited September 18, 2006 by Free For All Quote

Didn't someone say that CDs were considered "electronic" items? I hope not. That was me. I've been hit with that "CDs being electronics" once or twice -- ususally on box sets. 99% of the time this type of coupon works on CDs. Quote
Late Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 If the music is in the genre of electronica, however, it does qualify as electronics — no discount. I actually used the 30% coupon to purchase Tomasz Stanko's Lontano. An over-priced $17.99 became a reasonable $12.59. (Funny how math works that way.) Quote
Free For All Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 Another 30% off coupon ...with $10 purchase, through 10/4. Nice to see these again. Quote
bertrand Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 Is the Mingus at UCLA out this week? Bertrand. Quote

mikelz777 Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 (edited) Are people here really finding good deals at Border's even with the 30% off coupon? I wanted to take advantage but since the 30% is only off their retail price, I still found that everything I wanted could be had for (often significantly) less from various places on the internet even after shipping costs were added. Edited September 28, 2006 by mikelz777 Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 30% only gets Borders down to a reasonable level. How they sell ANYTHING at full retail prices is beyond me. Quote
Big Al Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 (edited) No kidding. Not only that, for the first time since the RVG program started, Borders hasn't gotten any of the last batch (Happenings, Demon's Dance, etc.) Edited September 28, 2006 by Big Al Quote

I wanted to take advantage but since the 30% is only off their retail price, I still found that everything I wanted could be had for (often significantly) less from various places on the internet even after shipping costs were added. I wouldn't say I've found great deals, but I have been using these coupons routinely on some SACD's at Borders, mostly Fantasy SACD's. In the past few days, I've picked up Pepper's Gettin' Together and Dolphy's Out There SACD's for about $14 each. The retail prices are about $18.99, so the 30% brings them down to what I consider a reasonable price for some good SACD's that you won't be able to buy just anywhere. I've also picked up a few recent Blue Note RVG's for about $8 or so. Nothing earth-shattering, but the msrp is low enough on the Blue Note RVG's that when you want one and you see it at Borders, it's nice to know you can get it for a reasonable price so long as you have a coupon. And of course, if you happen to find something at Borders that is OOP and you would snap up anyway, the coupon sweetens the deal. But in general, even 30% off msrp is not enough to get me to buy something at Borders. Quote

They have other SACD's that I already own, like Monk and Coltrane. Again, most if not all of the SACD's I have found there are Fantasy. I would be surprised though if they order more when I buy the ones they have. For all I know, they could have been sitting there for years. Quote
bertrand Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 (edited) I used the 30% coupon combined with my 'personal shopping day' tonight to get the following for $13.31 each, tax included: Mingus At UCLA Art Blakey Jazz Icons DVD Thelonious Monk Jazz Icons DVD I've been abusing the Borders' system for years. I already have like $15 in free points on my rewards card. Still nothing matches those 50% off one CD coupons from a few years back. Remember when Hardbop bought about 100 during that sale Bertrand. Free For All Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 Another 30% off, good through 10/11/06 Keep 'em comin' fellas! Quote
bertrand Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 (edited) I'll stay away this week-end! As I posted above, the discount gets really good if you combine it with your personal shopping day. Since they don't seem to mind using several coupons at a time (you have to do separate transactions, but who cares), you can really bring the price down quite a bit. Now if it could only be combined with a donation to organissimo... Bertrand. Edited October 5, 2006 by bertrand Quote
sal Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 Thanks for the coupon! I think I'm gonna spring for one of the Simpsons DVD box sets. I've fallen behind on those. Quote
