Soulstation1 Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 (edited) the gigolo better be rvged by the end of next year or i'm not gonna be a happy camper... i could get by with some "cornbread" ss1 Edited September 19, 2003 by Soulstation1 Quote
Free For All Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Well, I'm assuming there will be a lot of support for "Gigolo" (is that one definitely coming out?) but personally I'd like to see "Delightfulee" get RVGd. And I certainly would not be disappointed with "Cornbread". Quote
king ubu Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 I'd love it to be Deligthfulee - it's the only Morgan on Blue Note date I don't have (have all the others in old CD releases) ubu Quote
sidewinder Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 How about a re-mastering of Tom Cat ? This one is a blast from beginning to end and both Morgan and Blakey are on fire .... :rsmile: Quote
Peter Johnson Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 I agree-Tom Cat should be remastered (along with shorter's Soothsayer, but that's another thread). I've never been wild about Delightfullee, but that's just me--get the music out there, I say! Quote
pryan Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 I've agreed with SS1 since the old BNBB days; THE GIGOLO is my choice. Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 I think I'd rather hear a remastered version of The Rajah. Quote
Jad Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Another vote for Tom Cat, although The Rajah should at least be reissued. It's a crime that a Lee and Hank date should be so hard to find. Somebody ought to be arrested! Quote
jazzbo Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Yeah, The Rajah or Caramba! would get my support. (Who am I kidding? I'll buy whichever one is next!) Quote
Brad Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 The Gigolo, to save Soul Station's sanity! Plus, I don't have this or Delightfulee so either is goood, but let's help SS Quote
DrJ Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 DELIGHTFULEE gets my vote - for some reason, the RVG treatment seems to give extra added benefit to larger ensemble sessions (ALL SEEING EYE was a session I never could really warm too much until the RVG allowed me to hear the music almost as if anew) - but would be quite happy to see any of those mentioned above get RVG'd. Morganized Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 I will presume that BN is not simply pulling our chain on The Gigilo(for SS's peace of mind) so I would hope they would go with something that we havn't seen like Indeed, Delightfulee or Rajah. I have never heard any of these and I would love ot see them out as RVG's or Conn's. Quote
Alexander Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 I think I have every Morgan CD on Blue Note, but I don't have a single RVG version. I'd go for "Tom Cat" myself, with new cover art. Quote
Big Al Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 I'm also with SS1: THE GIGOLO!!!! Although Cornbread would sure be nice as well. Or Caramba. Or Charisma. Or..... Quote
catesta Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 My first choice would be The Gigolo. Quote
jmjk Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 I would actually vote for some of the 50's stuff that he did for BN, maybe Indeed! or The Cooker. By the way, hello everybody, it's my first post here. I'm the "old" Ramee from the BNBB. It took me a while to sign up and check in with you guys but I've been lurking around for the last week or so, reading posts and decided to sign up and join in with you all. Hi Pete- Hope everything is swell! I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I'd rather have an RVG of Blakey's A Night in Tunisia, with some kick-ass Mogie playing on it, than anything else Morgan released that hasn't been remastered. bertrand Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 On the topic of Caramba... Is it just me, or is there audible surface noise on the bonus track, 'A Baby's Smile'? You would think this was the one tune that *had* to come from the Master Tape. Bertrand. Quote
BruceH Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 City Lights gets my vote, but there are so many good choices here that you can't lose. Release it all!! Quote
