king ubu Posted November 4, 2012 Report Posted November 4, 2012 Good pre-order price on amazon.de: http://www.amazon.de/The-Complete-1946-1954-Paris-Byas/dp/B009S2U6HI/ As for sound, if Definitive is an indication, it will be rather crappy I guess (and likely even MP3 sourced, you never quite now until you've checked that ... not that I adhere to those who think it matters if crappy editions are MP3-based or not, crap is crap ... but I still don't like buying CDs in those cases). But I'll be happy to be proven wrong. However, as I have the two JiP discs, the Americans Swinging in Paris and the Vogue w/Beryl Booker & Mary Lou Williams, I guess I've got enough (I would though go for a well-done *complete* Byas set of that - or any other! - period)! jazzbo Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 Probably a better deal via importcds: http://www.importcds.com/Music/2500781/Duke-Ellington-Duke-Ellington-Ellington,-Duke-Complete-Columbia-Studio-Albums-Coll-CD 34.09 before shipping, and before ten percent off using SAVE10 code. Quote
aurelio Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 Importcds charges tax on California orders, so with the discount and shipping charges it‘s $38.41, otherwise definitely a good deal if you don’t get charged tax $35.67. Quote

David Posted November 24, 2012 Report Posted November 24, 2012 Was able to pick up the Toscanini Complete RCA set from an earlier Amazon lightning deal on Tuesday for $65 + tax. Pretty good deal in my book! Quote
Tom 1960 Posted November 24, 2012 Report Posted November 24, 2012 (edited) I'm not certain how long this will be available, but there are a couple of used copies of Coltrane's Complete Village Vanguard Recordings 4 cd set used in "like new" condition from Amazon Marketplace ranging from just over $22 to just under $25. If you want it, move fast! http://www.amazon.co...s=john coltrane Edited November 24, 2012 by Tom 1960 Quote
