BillF Posted September 24, 2020 Report Posted September 24, 2020 Early Eric and v nice too! More accurately should have been called Harold Mabern Quartet featuring Eric Alexander as Harold is fantastic here 27 years ago. I guess that, understandably, some of the intensity had gone in his final years. Quote
Rabshakeh Posted September 24, 2020 Report Posted September 24, 2020 (edited) Bill Dixon - Tapestries for Small Orchestra (Firehouse 12, 2019) I haven't listened to this one for a while, and I had forgotten how good it is. Five ethereal trumpets gliding over and through a swamp of bass clarinet, cello, double bass and marimba. Perhaps more work might have been done on the rather generic cover. Rabshakeh Posted September 24, 2020 Report Posted September 24, 2020 The Iron Men by Woody Shaw (Muse, 1982). A crazy line up. It's most fun to hear Woody and Muhal playing so well together. Quote
