I bought this set many years ago and since then have about 75% of the source material of this compilation in complete original releases. My esteem for late Basie grows all the time. There was nothing else quite like this band when he was at the piano chair. A whole “philosophy” of swing on the bandstand. This is really a well compiled and mastered collection. Quote

Kevin Bresnahan Posted January 20, 2023 Report Posted January 20, 2023 (edited) Bobby Hutcherson - Conception: The Gift Of Love (Columbia). This comes across as an early attempt at smooth jazz. Not really my favorite Hutcherson but not Kenny G-level terrible either. Until a post a few days ago, I forgot about this 2 CD set that I bought several years ago.
