There's a line between too much and just right, and it fascinates me how nobody here seems to care on which side they're on at any given time. Suffice it to say that when the trifecta of Hampton/Sebesky/Maiden got busy on both sides of the paper, a bit more attention to that got paid and that's why the Roulette set (and the Cameo & Mainstream records that followed). But this one here in not unlistenable at all, far from it. It's just a bit...splattery in terms of dynamics.

Some good soloing, too!

Excellent - have the  RCA vinyls

Outstanding platter .... not known by many ....

Totally unknown to me.  Will give it a listen.  Mickey Tucker's presence is always a plus.

Thanks for the heads-up.  :tup

Bit of a Lee Morgan marathon: Taru, Sidewinder, Search for the New Land and Tom Cat. Tom Cat was the best of the bunch by far despite some gems in the other albums. Then moved on to Parlan's Spur of the Moment and it's better than every one of those Morgan sessions.

I can't help it - This artist's name always brings back memories of some of the craziest posts I ever saw on a forum. Still blows my mind to think that the person thought that was OK.
