I've been exploring some other "Great American Songbook" records over the past few days, concentrating on records that I don't know that arguably fall outside of the usual "prestige" styles (jazz vocals or Sinatra / Cole type "traditional pop"), so mostly dabbling pop artists, schlocky cabaret/musical theatre pop records, or 1960s/70s pop in a Bacharachian vein. I have lived my life aware of most of these artists but, with the exception of the likes of Eartha Kitt I don't think I had ever really thought to listen to any of it. Quote
