Another cool morning, slightly soggy after rain yesterday evening (Tobi and I got caught in some of it during our last walk of the day, but we were pretty close to home and jogged home pretty dry).

I've been busy this morning with my task of putting discs into binders--this morning about 150 Miles Davis cdrs that were in storage. Pretty amazing how many there are out there--Sony could make some great Bootleg Series sets still, there are more "Lost Quintet" items they could make a set from. as well as many good broadcasts from Europe of another Lost Quintet, with Bartz and Jarrett and Chancler, and also fascinating non-Japan studio and club appearances with a final "pre-retirement" group featuring Sam Morrison that would make a nice set.

Listened at first to the Phillipe Baden Powell disc from the "Jazz Piano Master" series from Adventure Music--a new disc I received in the mail as my previous disc has a digital pressing defect on track 9. Well so does this new copy. Darn!

And after looking at all these Miles boots I had to listen to some Miles, and the first one that I pulled out was "Someday My Prince Will Come," the Mobile Fidelity half-speed master cd version, which sounds great.

I've been on an Artie Shaw kick since listening to the first five interviews of a series of 13 which are being published on allaboutjazz.  https://www.allaboutjazz.com/radio/?podcast_id=82497  I have the Mosaic, Self Portrait, and that series of Last Recordings.  But I wanted to hear more of his early stuff, before 1938 when the Mosaic starts. I noticed looking around on internet archive you can find all 16 Artie Shaw Chronological Classics and all but one are good quality flac files.  Sound is surprisingly good.  The booklets can be found on musicbrainz.
