I was looking for an obscure book in my field (optometry).  The book was of minimal interest to a small group in my area.  The book was going for ridiculous prices on Ebay.  The book seller told me that sometimes those sellers are involved in money laundering.  A convenient way to sell a $6 book for $600. Who knows? For whatever that is worth>

I’ve suspected that that is what is going on with at least one internet seller of jazz vinyl that I know of, who shall remain nameless.

Japanese collectors pay insane prices for many first edition Blue Note LPs from the 1950s. I don't care what pressing it is as long as it in good shape and relatively clean. I'm not about to invest $2000 in one vintage LP.

Very Interesting. The Blue Note Money Laudering, sounds good for a crime novel. Blue Money is a good title.

Just about all collectibles have seen sharp spikes in value these last 1.5-2 years. Definitely an avenue to wash money.

Yes, but not a "serious" one. Over here mafia bought lots of big restaurants an bars that clean in one night all the BN catalogue. I see it just a mild way to evade taxes. When police  raids mobs premises, they found old paintings, sports cars and gold rolex, but no True Blue.
