This Herman session on disc 9 is completely new to me. Going to pause when it’s over for a blue Lou Donaldson interlude, but Ben Webster, Marjorie Hyams and Bill Harris all making the date a blast for me.

Ah, I see what you mean. You have to jump from the center of pg 19 (where the previous Eldridge session notes are supposed to end) to where the Norvo notes begin on pg 20, then double back to continue. A hopscotch perversion of the linear narrative! That aside, gawd is there a lot of fine music on this set. I’m enjoying it even more as I progress through the later discs. Dodo Marmarosa’s presence on one of the Krupa sessions was a happy surprise… I’d forgotten that he had a stint with GK.

Roughly discs 7/8-11, I’d say.

Me three! I only just returned from a long overseas trip to find the box waiting for me. I've always liked Mosaic's remastering, but I have to say they've outdone themselves with this one. The sound is really wonderful!

I'm listening now to disc 6 (Fats Waller and Bobby Hackett).  Sound quality is stunning.

Dumb question... but am I remembering correctly that there was supposed to be a second set of V-Disc big band stuff?

If I'm right, does anyone have any details on size or release date?

I don't think that any specific info has been released--there was talk from Mosaic about a second big band cd set possible, not sure that there was more mentioned from the source other than "possible" or in the consideration stage. 

EDIT TO ADD: The only mention I have found of it is in this, the first post of the thread:

(Scott Wenzel quoted) "Another thing I’m working on now is a collection of small-group V-Discs. That will be out in the summer, I hope, featuring all sorts of small group things. And then next year, we’ll probably be putting together a V-Discs big band collection. It was owned by the government, so it’s all public domain.”

As far as I know this is indeed in the works and possibly out November-ish? That's my fuzzy, needs-to-be-confirmed remembrance of a recent chat with Scott W while ordering one of the Vanguard boxes.
