jazzbo Posted July 12 Report Posted July 12 I learned from Victor Christensen's son that he has passed at the age of 89. RIP Victor, a friend via email and facebook and jazz forums. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted July 12 Report Posted July 12 This was posted on Victor's Facebook page: Dear all, I am saddened to inform you that my dear father, Victor, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at the age of 89. Victor’s memorial service will take place on June 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Sundby Cemetery Chapel. Afterwards, a memorial gathering will be held at Café Ælsk, Amagerbrogade 37, 2300 Copenhagen S. Everyone who knew and cared for Victor is welcome. Victor & I chatted via PMs and E-mails over the years. We exchanged CDs a few times. Like me, he was a huge Mobley fan. I haven't heard from him in a long while but I checked his Facebook page from time to time. His son posted a picture on Victor's 89th birthday in May. Quote
jazzbo Posted July 12 Author Report Posted July 12 I feel proud and happy that I was a part of Victor and Chris Albertson re-connecting after decades . . . they were friends from their youth and had long been out of touch. Victor was a very nice man, a true jazz fan, and a generous spirit. I wish his family all the best. Quote
JSngry Posted July 12 Report Posted July 12 RIP Certainly one of the most magnanimous people to grace our presence here. Quote
John L Posted Monday at 01:09 AM Report Posted Monday at 01:09 AM Very sorry to hear this. Victor visited me once when I was living in Paris. He was a wonderful person. RIP Quote
clifford_thornton Posted Monday at 01:48 AM Report Posted Monday at 01:48 AM That's too bad. I certainly remember his posting in this community, though IIRC it had been a while. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted Monday at 10:47 AM Report Posted Monday at 10:47 AM I was supposed to visit Victor on my one business trip to the Copenhagen area, but we never managed to arrange it. I remember sending him a few "needle drop" CD-Rs of LPs he hadn't heard in many years. He was a Nick Brignola fan, so he really appreciated the needle drops of "Baritone Madness" & "Burn Brigade" that I sent him before Mosaic got around to releasing the Bee Hive label on CD. Quote
Joe Posted Monday at 11:08 PM Report Posted Monday at 11:08 PM Always a pleasure to interact with Victor here. Sad to hear this news. RIP. Quote
Aggie87 Posted Tuesday at 12:07 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 12:07 AM Sorry to hear this as well. It's sad to lose long time board members - Victor has been here since the great 2003 migration, so he's certainly an original. Rest in Peace, Victor. Quote
Brad Posted Wednesday at 02:08 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 02:08 PM I’m very sorry to hear this news about Victor. He was a true gentleman. RIP. Quote
