JSngry Posted August 21 Report Posted August 21 What kind of proof-of-purchase would they be equipped to accept? Quote
Brad Posted August 22 Report Posted August 22 I have the Mosaic but I’m sure this is better sounding so I may spring for the CDs. Quote

Presto has this as a download (44.1 kHz, 16 bit, FLAC/ALAC/WAV - cd quality), for a few weeks the price will be $14.25. Thinking of picking it up. Quote
Holy Ghost Posted August 24 Report Posted August 24 This set is ok, I don't see the fuss about these two tracks, and I am ok with the Conn 45 sessions. These two tracks are not on my radar, and if I hear them, I'm going to believe that the Conn is still ok with me. FWIW, this is my go to Ike (KEEbec) record: Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted August 24 Report Posted August 24 There's no "fuss" really. I guess it's just about completeness. I would buy this new set if it had those two tracks. As it is now, I won't be buying it for the third time. I had the Mosaic set for years & upgraded to the Connoisseur 2-CD set when it came along. I see no reason to buy this new one at all. FWIW, they do belong on this new set and someone should have known this but, Blue Note lost that knowledge along the way. I'm surprised their Jazz Detective missed them. Quote

T.D. Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago (edited) I've been playing the Conn twofer and digging it a lot. Dunno why it didn't grab me before. I unfairly dissed it upthread. But I'll still pass on the reissue. Edited 18 hours ago by T.D. Quote
JSngry Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago Ike Quebec was a baaaaad man. I have yet to hear anything of his playing that did not start as a total groove and never do anything but get groovier as it went along. I'll never forget the description of him as "a pool hall motherfucker" made by somebody who knew exactly what he was saying. He meant it as a supreme compliment! Quote

Highly doubt that Blue Note would do this since they don't even offer download cards with their vinyl releases. I stopped buying Blue Note's releases on vinyl because of this. Records are a pain in the ass to play sometimes & I certainly can't play them in my car, so selling me a vinyl LP without a download means that it will not get played very often. Blue Note decided to monetize downloads and I don't see any evidence that they are willing to stop. Quote
