Too weird!  and of course that Mosaic release number is fake ... I am online friends with Michael Steinman who supposedly wrote the booklet. I should reach out to him.

Fwiw, Steinmann mentions that such a set is in the works and that he's kind of involved here

So that was earlier this year ... did Mosaic issue a set and not make an announcement?  Or is this some sort of early reviewer copy, before they even hint at a release schedule?

No, Mosaic has not released a set at this time. I think that JM has jumped the gun, I would expect a Mosaic announcement soon, possibly via Sundy Gazette.

Catalog number is #283, right after the Sanders set, so it does seem legitimately forthcoming and likely mistakenly included among the used items.

All seems logical now but how is a copy leaking to a European seller and before any peep from Mosaic?  I didn't even think they went to production until after a pre-sale period.

I think they were just sent information/hype statement and a pic to put up when they are available. And they jumped the gun, there was some crossed communication. Just my guess. I had heard a while back a Crosby set was a possibility so I'm not surprised to see it as coming soon.

I also just received the e-mail with the announcement.

Interesting choice. I am not very familiar with Bob Crosby and will have to check out more of his music to decide if I will get the upcoming box set.

I am glad that Mosaic is still going strong and putting out a wide variety of music. From Pharoah Sanders to Bob Crosby, that is certainly a wide variety.

I am not at all familiar with Bob Crosby, so I've decided to pre-order it to rectify that situation.  Looking forward to hearing it.

I like the Crosby org well enough, good, spirited bunch, but not enough to buy a Mosaic of them. Saving my money for the (hopefully) forthcoming big band V-Disc set.

For those wondering about the Bob Crosby band, here's a partial discussion (focusing on the Bob Cats): ;)

Personally, I have quite a bit of Bob Crosby on vinyl, but the reissues (of the band's commercially released 78s) in the vinyl era were a huge mess. You tended to get almost the same things over and over again, while others continually fell by the compliers' wayside (though some of these "misses" I've heard elsewhere are worth exploring. ) So my LPs have lots of overlaps AND gaps. OTOH I've never come across the Halcyon CD series mentioned in the above thread, but i dont think I'd have invested in a "complete" series anyway.
