bebopbob Posted Saturday at 01:07 PM Report Posted Saturday at 01:07 PM Has anyone experienced delays from shipping from Japan? I ordered some CDs from CD Japan three weeks ago with no indication they have been shipped to US via FedEx. I emailed them twice for status of order with no response. Has anyone experienced the same from CD Japan? thanks Bob Quote
AaronG Posted Sunday at 03:30 PM Report Posted Sunday at 03:30 PM (edited) I can’t speak for CD Japan specifically but, generally speaking, there have been tariff changes that may be at work. The “de minimus exemption that allowed packages worth less than $800 to enter the U.S. duty-free” [USA Today] has been ended by the administration. Sites like Bandcamp and EBay now have notices that some items may involve new fees or may not be shipping to the U.S. There may also be lengthy delays at customs because no one really knows how to handle any of this. I have a job that is directly affected by these delays. For me personally. purchasing anything outside the U.S. is now off limits (probably the point). That'll be my import source until the tariff thing clarifies. Not holding my breath. Edited Monday at 01:12 AM by T.D. Quote
jazzbo Posted Monday at 06:09 PM Report Posted Monday at 06:09 PM I definitely will limit my overseas orders, though I confess I ordered from cdjapan today . . . I could not resist the new Miles Davis 1964 SACD. There was an additional "fees/charge" of 13 dollars. . . I swallowed it as I had some cash from an audio sale. Quote
Brad Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago Shipping to the US is somewhat problematic. I ordered some vinyl inners and outers from a company in Canada and it was shipped but got stuck at customs. Because packages are only allowed to be there five days it was returned to the supplier who has now te-shipped it. Quote

Kevin Bresnahan Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago I place an order with Gold Star Coffee in Toronto about every 4 months or so. Great coffee at great prices. I am worried that these shipments will now be held up. I may have placed my last order until 2028. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago I'm wondering if shipping via FedEx, DHL, UPS might improve the odds of getting what one ordered. For what it is worth, the customs harmonization code for LPs/45s is 85238090 / 85238010 The harmonization code for CDs is 85234920 going forward, these numbers might be useful to provide sellers when shipping stuff to the US. jcam_44 Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago I shipped from Korea via FedEx instead of EMS or DHL because it used to be the fastest service. We shall see how it goes. Via FedEx tracking it looks okay. I'll let everyone know how it ends up if you're interested. Quote
jazzbo Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago DHL seems to be operating at its normal (brisk) pace from Asia. Quote
