  1. Past hour
  2. Damn, that price on the Desmond is crazy good. And I just bought a new one from Mosaic 😵
  3. Pm on Woody shaw muse and mobley 70s
  4. Miles consistently praised George Coleman, long after his involvement with Miles was over. I remember reading some Coleman interview where he said that the "younger guys" in the band - not Miles - kept giving him a cold shoulder. Please note that Miles (tipped off by Coltrane, IIRC) made Shorter an offer to join the band back in 1961 - before Coleman was invited. So probably Coleman (as well as Stitt, Mobley and Rivers) was considered a (very) temporary placeholders until Shorter would eventually become available.
  5. Maybe it is the source or transfer of the streaming service?
  6. Does Mosaic have a YouTube channel? Or get that Jazz Video Guy guy to help out.
  7. How are things marketed today? There are few magazines, and a generation is mostly geared towards finding things out through the electronic grapevine - YouTube and such.
  8. Riccardo Muti - The Complete Warner Symphonic Recordings, disc 77.
  9. Today
  10. Miles didn't like Sam's playing. Simples as that. And objectively, I get it. Sam was pretty skronky.
  11. It's nearly a totally different band with decidedly different approach to improvisation. I like it (although I tend to dislike Masteloto's plodding drumming), but prefer the first band still.
  12. Is the Jones-Lewis from the Mosaic? They removed all the reverb on that one, and this is a lot drier than the OG release.
  13. I think the Sanders Mosaic will be their best seller of the recent times. It will probably sell out before the Henderson set does.
  14. OK I don't have the same environment or experience and I feel mine, you feel yours.

  16. It's definitely smaller. I can see it in what's being offered for sale, locally and online. And in my world where it is arts oriented, the focus is clearly on other things, and its AI and tech oriented. My few connections left in the resale world have noticed this as well. Certain analogue items will have some value simply because a generation has not grown up with it, and have an interest, but there are a heap of cultural things that are being left alone, perhaps in part because it belongs to a time and culture that is no longer identifiable.
  17. Kip Hanrahan, Crescent Moon Waning
  18. Carl Perkins with Leroy Vinnegar on #6?
  19. Immanuel Wilkins “The 7th Hand” Blue Note cd I love this cd.
  20. It doesn't have to be either/or for me either. I've pre-ordered every Mosaic set for a long time.
  21. It doesn't need to be either/or but seems like it has been. Both would suit me just fine
  22. I don't know. . . those I am referring to are mostly in their fifties and sixties. . . and have a few decades possibly left in their collecting. Jazz has for over fifty years been a niche audience. . . and Mosaic is firmly in the niche. I think they can continue to be among the only ones truly conscientiously mining and refining the earlier decades of jazz for some time to come. . . at least as long as the producers wish to.
