  1. I occasionally order from CDJapan, who are indeed excellent. I always try to keep the value under 22 euros, otherwise I'd have to pay tax (21% in the Netherlands) plus a hefty handling charge, which would make the CDs very expensive.
  2. Sorry for the silly error ("requiring" instead of "acquiring") - now corrected.
  3. The Roulette label is now owned by the Warner Music Group. After acquiring EMI Universal had to sell Roulette and a few other labels to comply with the conditions of the European Commission. [edited to correct an error]
  4. Correct. Masterings of licensed material Mosaic ordered and paid for are owned by the rights holders, not Mosaic, and they can do with the masterings what they want.
  5. Shrdlu is an ardent opponent of the EU and everything it represents in his eyes; he told me so years ago. Just thought I'd mention it. [edit] Just noticed that his post is gone - no idea if he deleted it or if it was removed by a moderator.
  6. BillF was responding to my reaction to shrdlu´s post; the remark shrdlu made, "irrelevant scare tactic", was and is used regularly by brexiteers in the political debate in the UK that's been going on for more than 3 years now, to counter arguments made by people who want to remain in the EU.
  7. I think politics ("irrelevant scare tactic" is a brexiteer slogan) should be left out of this - it's not allowed on this forum anyway.
  8. See my post above re: Bear Family versus JSP.
  9. Bear Family sued JSP for having stolen their Carter Family masterings and won: http://www.indicare.org/tiki-read_article.php?articleId=98
  10. It's April 30 now over here, so happy birthday and many happy returns!
  11. It's now April 18 in Europe, so: have a great day, Flurin!

Another excellent result for Ajax: after beating Real Madrid in the last 32 they knocked out Juventus in the QF tonight, 3-2 aggregate.
  13. Terrible. One of the great European cathedrals and a centre of medieval polyphony. I'm interested in cathedrals like the Notre Dame purely from a secular perspective, it's part of our history and culture. One doesn't have to be religious to appreciate that.
  14. They were thinking about a complete Fletcher Henderson set a few years ago, but decided to make it a Coleman Hawkins set instead, which, of course, has quite a bit of Henderson.
  15. I suggested a Chico Hamilton follow-up set more or less like that years ago and they told me they had been looking into it but it turned out the licensing issues were way too problematic. I understand licensing for sets with stuff that is owned by more than one rights holder is even more difficult and costly these days. A Revelation Records (not to be confused with the punk label, of course ) set would be very nice indeed, but there might be some licensing issues - I have no idea who owns the material these days or if there's more than one owner.
  16. New Hank Mobley Blue Note Set

    Totally agreed; well put
  17. The Freedom Principle is a great read, even though someone goofed on the contents page and page 105 ("Transition Miles Davis and Model Jazz")
  18. I was sorry to see the Select series go too, but it wasn't commercially viable. I wonder if hiking the price would have helped, sales were were already too low as it was.
  19. Goooooooooooooooooooooooooool

Nice to see Ajax beat Real after all those lean years in the Champions League. They have a good but rather unstable team - excellent one week, rubbish the next.

  21. Happy Birthday Mikeweil

Belated happy birthday and get well soon!
  22. New Hank Mobley Blue Note Set

Just heard back from Mosaic why they chose 1963 as a starting point:
