  1. Bandcamp has the function to give download albums/tracks as gifts. Things move on but stay the same. The Liebman CD is available here - third result on a Google search https://store.cdbaby.com/cd/davidliebmanfriends You may have to import from US but that's a price we have to make occasionally living in Europe. All depends on how much you want to hear something. The reason I buy occasional downloads too.
  2. I'm waiting for a price drop after a few months for the CD box, or even a stream, to pick up alternates. I'm rationing myself, trying to get to know each album before moving on as it's all new to me; so still only 5 LPs in. Favourite session so far is ' Tubbs in NY'. But favourite individual tracks are 'The Folks Who Live On The Hill' and 'Down In The Village'. All going nicely with the Beeb's Keeler drama too. Think a visit to Bar Italia is required this week 😃 My reading of the Spillett bio has now caught up with my listening

    Noah Howard

I really enjoy 'Black Ark' too. Others I own and think well worth a listen are the two on ESP, 'Noah Howard Quartet' and 'At Judson Hall' (Ric Colbeck!) and also 'Berlin Concert' on FMP Ones I'd like to hear are 'Schizophrenic Blues', 'Space Dimension' (recently bootlegged reissue by the looks of things) and 'Live At The Swing Club'. I've not investigated his later work so will be interested to see what opinions this thread generates on them
  4. Maybe Job instead of Jehovah. Fingers crossed for a speedy and pain free arrival
  5. I'm pleased it's turned up. Time for a Tubby Xmas! Hermes really are a pile of @##@. I bet it was packaged differently to the photos they sent you
  6. Damp Not the music. I'll give it a spin to check that though
  7. jamesjazzy is one of the more "interesting" reviewers on Discogs. I have that somewhere too but I don't have a loft...
  8. It happens when you stop using the dye...
  9. Tom Haines CD available here https://tomhaines.bandcamp.com/album/tom-haines-the-birmingham-jazz-orchestra-live
  10. The package I received wasn't wrapped in bubble wrap but a metallic blue plastic. I received two packages both in that packing. If it's coming from the same source then why wouldn't they all be packaged the same.
  11. Just starting Simon Spillet's 'The Long Shadow of the Little Giant'. Accompanying my deep delve into the Fontana box set
  12. Mine was a signed for delivery but I only realised that when I got the delivery confirmation email - the signature image was my name but not my signature. I can only assume the courier "signed" for it retrospectively. It wouldn't surprise me if you get a knock on the door this evening or tomorrow. Hermes have always been my least favourite delivery company.
  13. That's a beautiful book, such a feeling of place. I must reread it one day. Not sure he's surpassed it although 'Last Orders' is mighty fine.
  14. Funny how people don't let misogyny get in the way of alleged genius. Always was and always will be my issue with FZ. No excuses, not the widely proposed "irony" for such behaviour. Man was a wanker. Cue the can't judge the music by the man excuses.
  15. It does. The contrast between the Garbarek and Corea's Return to Forever choices makes that point eloquently. There was just too much good music in the catalogue at the time (and I'd the make a case for later too but that's another story).
  16. Happy Birthday!! Thanks for all the great radio shows
  17. A great listen, thanks. I know most of the music well but it's good to hear it together in the historical context.
  18. I got the flyers too... Hermes delivered the Tubby, received an email notification about an hour in advance
  19. I'm assuming they're shipping tomorrow which is even more wishful. I have got a Parcelforce card from today so maybe...
  20. I should have listened to this. A fan of the Frequency, Amina, Here In Now and Crispell suggests some coincidence of taste. I had trouble tracking the Dawkins down in UK/Europe when I first became aware of it. This is my prompt to look again
  21. Aha! Thanks for clarifying ( good to see someone else keeps an excel catalogue) I ordered the Pure Pleasure this morning prompted by your post, so thank you. I'd been meaning to for ages, enough of streaming it I need to hold it
