  1. Great, thanks. That's exactly what I wanted to hear. Purchase now imminent
  2. How did you find that Brad? Your post prompted me to check it out. Interesting premise intrigues but reviews seem a bit cool about the 'horror' elements
  3. Clarke-Boland Big Band - KPM Jazz Conventions [Trunk Records] Bingo! Thanks Sidewinder. Worth the entry price for the flute playing Uum Mannie Umm alone
  4. you mean there is still two public toilets in Cardiff? Positively luxurious. All disappeared in London
  5. I've wondered about that in the past as it's not really somewhere you'd necessarily choose to take a rest. That'd be a bedroom, surely...
  6. Chico Hamilton - And The Players [Blue Note] enjoying this new arrival a lot, with thanks to Hutchfan for his recent promotion/posting of this and 'Peregrinations'. Oddly, or not, parts of it makes me think of Prime Time

    Chick Corea

I agree with this. I bought them having similarly 'rediscovered' The Paris Concert
  8. Yeah, there are copies on Discogs. Be good to support a real shop if it works out. They had Jym Young's Puzzle Box and a couple of other titles not regularly spotted
  9. Got to hope I can persuade them to mailorder it to me then...
  10. Adasiewicsz is a real talent as far as I hear. He's adventurous and catholic in his collaborations but also runs a couple of great bands, his trio Sun Rooms and quintet Rolldown. He can be found on very good albums by Jason Stein, Joshua Abrams, Mike Reed amongst others (as Hot Ptah points out, all of whom are active in the amazingly vibrant Chicago scene). I first came across him on Rob Mazurek recordings. As for Nicole Mitchell, well she can do no wrong in my book. The 'Aquarius' album is very fine not least for bringing her together with Adasiewicsz. I'll let everyone get on with discussing the BFT now. Apologies.
  11. Happy vinyl-spinning Birthday!! I hope you've unwrapped something suitably flat and black...
  12. I'm pleased someone else holds it in such high regard
  13. No, I thought about it and then forgot all about it. Thanks for the reminder. If you don't already know Kjaer and Hoberg's own releases they're worth a look. Kjaer has a Clean Feed trio disc with your favourite British rhythm section https://cleanfeed-records.com/product/dobbeltgaeenger/
  14. Sounds very interesting. I'll take a look. The Threadgill's great Edit to add: taken a look. Some very interesting younger players on that set - Kjaer, Hogberg, Santos Silva and others I've not heard of. Very tempting
  15. I always enjoy this. A stand out in his discography, as far as I'm concerned And this, a little ambitious at two CDs but a good effort nonetheless
  16. giving this another try. Liking it a bit more this time, the vocals seem more integrated than on previous listens One day I will own a copy of that. Until then it's YT for me too. Love it

Similar here. I've gone back a couple of times and got a bit further each time but it's the only MH album I've not instantly taken a shine too. I'm a fan of Akinmusire too so was looking forward to hearing them together - I'm not giving up though...
  18. Having listened to the samples, I'm in for this definitely.
  19. Anteloper - Kudu [International Anthem] always open to hearing some more Jaimie Branch
  20. I saw this LP over the weekend. I was intrigued but not enough to buy it unheard (too much of a hurry to give it a listen) Anyone know anything about the record or band? Only release listed on Discogs. Scant references online but one track on YouTube does sound interesting. The personnel mean nothing to me but that's probably a reflection more of my ignorance than their profiles Alto Saxophone – Rahim Roach Bass – Chris Amberger Drums – Smiley Winters Piano – Robin Young (3) Soprano Saxophone – Dale Reamer Tenor Saxophone, Soprano Saxophone – Bert Wilson, Mike Breen Trombone – Patrick O'Hara* Trumpet – Peter Montalbano Vibraphone [Vibes], Arranged By, Conductor – Dave Wilson (11) Vocals – Carol Wilson
  21. Chico Hamilton - Man from Two Worlds [Impulse]
