  1. Wikipedia saying she received an honorary doctorate from Berklee in 2020:
  2. Looks like he wrote two? One covering earlier periods of jazz. I saw those cheap, but the book in question here was $233. https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?sts=t&cm_sp=SearchF-_-home-_-Results&ref_=search_f_hp&tn=Modern jazz%3A The essential records %3A a critical selection
  3. I love that box and everything BJP. Fun to know he was a local guy (Kansas City), along with Charles Kynard. I tend to gravitate towards the later stuff, so deeply in the pocket to my ears. Also love it when some of his sax players go a little outside on those later Blue Notes. PS - would love to hear the unissued DIW session!
  4. Yep, I believe that is correct. Fun set!
  5. Forty years of listening to jazz and he is my favorite organist. Just listened to the delicious comp yesterday:
  6. I enjoy their Bandcamp page and buy albums from time to time. Pretty mainstream stuff, but sound samples make it easy to be choosey.
  7. Perhaps my all-time favorite. Not a second wasted:
  8. Looking for Maze recommendations, please.
  9. Some Maze perhaps? I never know where to start.
  10. FSU has every right to be livid. Sadly the “solution” will be coming next year with the expanded playoff. Expect the top four teams (i.e. those with byes) to be filled by the SEC and Big 10 between now and forever. If you root for a team from one of those two conferences or are a casual fan, great. If you are an undefeated team from the ACC or Big 12, be “thankful” that you are in. Perhaps this is slightly cynical, but who would have ever thought the PAC 12 would have been blown up? Stanford and Cal in the ACC? And WSU and OSU out in the cold. And decades old rivalries being discarded.
  11. Agree 100% What else could FSU have done? Football is not about one player. College football is deeply flawed, especially relative to the NFL. Unless of course you pull for the Big 10 or SEC.
  12. The Omnivore web site has the LP and CD at 50% off, albeit through today only.
  13. I think the CD/Digital version comes out this Friday if not the 9th. There is currently one cut on Bandcamp that sounds pretty good to me.
  14. Found a sealed copy for $45 on Discogs, so went that route. I sometimes have a hard time reading the liner notes on the CD booklet. I will probably download the tracks from Bandcamp as well. A little pricey all in, but I love Wes and this looks special.
  15. Found a sealed copy online for $45 and grabbed it. Looking forward to this one!!
  16. Thanks for your vision Joe - the album selection has been fantastic. I have loved all the LT/Rainbow titles, among others. Now, every Big John Patton title please 😂
  17. Interesting with this series, my sense is that these are records that Joe Harley holds in high regard. So maybe I give the Byrd’s a chance. Another view is they are putting some of this out there for the “collector” market, “oh my I get to own something on the AMAZING Transition label” 😊. But there are a few I will get, for sure.
  18. I wound up with an extra copy of this one, with no receipt to return it (received as gift then threw away the packaging). Looks like Amazon wants $39, I will sell it for $30, postage paid. Or consider a trade. PM if interested and thanks for the interest!
